Default Help, Clicking noise when I step on the brakes

I just got an 08 and brought it to the dealer for rear noise.
I also hear a clicking noise when I step on the brakes. The dealership told me that this is normal. Can anyone give me any advice? Is this normal? Where is it coming from? Is there a fix?
Thanks

Is it an auto? It could be the shift / brake interlock.

I have an 08 with the same problem. Never bothered to ask because it seems so minimal.

I've never heard of a brake clicking noise as being normal unless you're talking about the Anti-lock feature. I'd check for a slightly cracked rotor. Could be any of the 4 corners, but is more likely to be the fronts since they do most of the work. Look for a small radial crack that extends the full width of the brake pad. Smaller spider web like cracks are normal. If you run your fingernail over the crack and you can feel it, that's probably the issue.

If it's clink or dink type sound when you first apply pressure and sounds like it's inside the car, it's the sound of metal on metal at the pedal arm pivot point attachment point. I slipped in a small flat piece of felt where the two pieces of metal were touching and the sound went away. If I really wanted to do the job right, I would have used a felt washer instead, but that would involved a small bit of disassembly, which I didn't want to do. For lack of a better term, the brake pedal has some wiggle.

I did this to my '05 Z51, which I have since sold.

Your problem is normal, not really even a problem. No worries

Funny how when two or more people hear a noise it gets posted as "normal". That is BS. My 08 coupe makes zero noise when the brakes are applied.

Better take it in way too quiet for a 2008 Vette.

Mine does the same thing - sounds like it is coming from the passenger side footwell. It sounds like a relay clicking and according to many posters on this forum that is exactly what it is.

It is so faint though that i only hear it when i have the npp closed and no stereo on. I think i remember that someone posted that a "fix" was to put some insulation on the cover of the fuse box panel - so I will be trying that this summer if I find that it still bothers me.

Thanks for the replies. I will try the felt trick. It may be normal, but if it can be fixed, I will give it a try.

Replace the solenoid in the gear box to fix the problem. It might come back after a few years though.

My 2013 manual tranny Corvette makes a click noise when I apply the brakes. It is the electrical relay. I can only hear it when it is in my garage. Also does it when I put the shifter in reverse. Normal noise. Not to worry.
