Default (Under) Hood Liner question

Is there a special tool that is used to pull the hood liner fastener "buttons". Can the original buttons be re-used? Has anybody used the silver / chrome buttons that Corvette Central sells, are they decent quality?

Finally, is the logo on the GM accessory (Z06) liner silk screened or embroidered?

A bbq fork works very well...make sure they are warm when pulling them straight out and you can re-use. Just do it after driving the car. The Z06 is a decal.

PS Cover the engine with a sheet or something because at least one will get away from you and it will bury itself in the engine.

If you want an embroidered logo, try http://www.carmotorsports.com/corvet..._insulator.php.

Yes there is a special tool made just for this, I have one, think I purchased it at harbour freight. I think it is called a clip remover. I have also rused these type of clips b4.

Embroidered is nice looking but if it gets dirty, its a problem. With a decal, it can be cleaned easily. With paint, it can be cleaned or touched up to fix dirt spots.

I just cut a center prong off a fork. Works very well. I have swapped liners around many times still using the original pins.

2 prong fork works like a charm.

Another vote for the two-pronged fork, mine is ready on the shelf in my garage if I have to do it again.

Here's what you need for removing the different push pins without damaging them.
You take a regular fork tool that is straight and put it in a vise and use a propane torch and heat it until it gets red and bend at a 90 degree angle.Works great for breaking down car interior too!
