Although I have not done it, according to everything I have read - YES, you can clay bar "GLASS". Keep in mind, the Corvette tops (targa) are not glass, they are "Lexan" (plastic). I do not know if you can clay bar Lexan.

The top has a very thin layer of protective (anti-scratch?) stuff on it, I'd be hesitant to clay it until I heard from several folks who had no problems later on.

No. You will only introduce fine scratches. At best you will accomplish nothing at all if you are lucky.

Default Clear Top Cleaner

NOOOOOOOOO! DON'T DO IT. I use a special spray specifically designed for this purpose called PLEXUS. Go to www.PlexusPlasticCleaner.com It's the ONLY thing to use on them.

Us a good Plastic Cleaner/Polish, 3M, or Plexus is what I use at my detail shop. Look for some inexpensive 100%cotton applicators at Kragens.Chuck's/whoever. They come in a package of 4 for about $4.
Plan on using all 4. Divide the top into 4 sections and use the cleaner and a new applicator. When you have finished with the first 1/4, go to a new applicator, unless it is still very clean. If your top is dirty, the applicator will load up with dirt. If you continue to use it, it will scratch, that is why you rotate applicators.

I used Plexus to remove the spots from the raindrops, very good stuff and designed to maintain airplane windows.

At best clay can be a mild abrasive.
Just use Plexus regularly and your top will look and feel great.
(Don't forget to use it on the inside, too.)

clay bars remove airborne contaminants from the clear coat surface as they become embedded. You accomplish nothing by claying the clear roof.

I will be using Zaino Plastic polish on mine when and if its needed. right now, it has two layers of zaino z5pro with zfx on the inside and outside and looks fab.

Exactly...no reason to do it.

Well I will jump on here and disagree. My car is a DD and sees lots of road grime. I had plenty of over-spray and road contaminants on my clear top and clay bar was the only thing that took them off. It didn't leave a single scratch on the top either.

I've never heard of Plexus that was mentioned. Personally I rely on washing and polishing it and when needed use detail spray.

Washing won't necessarily get everything off. Dirt in it's various forms can get stuck to your top just like it does to your paint.
You can pick it up at Tap Plastics, and it comes in various forms of abrasive. From strong to very mild. I also use it on my headlight restores to remove the sanding scratches.
I found the Zaino plastic polish to be very, very mild, and simply did not do the trick on even the lightest grime and scratches, where as Plexus definitely did the trick. It is great for bringing up a shine after cleaning. And this is coming from a Zaino distributor

I use Honda cleaner/polish. It's pretty much the same stuff as Plexus. Actually I have used it all over the cars body work. You can pick up either product at a motorcycle parts dept.

Possibly the McGuires headlight polish kit would work. You might email them about the application.
