Problems Purchasing 2010 Grand Sport Local Dealers Fail
#21
+1 for Tommy Jr and MacMulkin, I am fortunate to live only about 15 minutes from Nashua where MacMulkin is located. Buying my 09 coupe from Tommy Jr was the easiest and most pleasant car buying experience I have ever had. He'll definitely hook you up.

Here's another vote for Tommy Jr. at MacMulkin. Gave me a great deal last year on my 09. My brother bought his 06 frm Kerbeck and also was pleased. Listen to what other posters have told you and go to a forum dealer. You won't regret it. I just checked Kerbeck's inventory and note that he has TWO coupes just like you want on his incoming list.

Hello all... (yes, I have been around lurking the forum)
I am SOOOO FRUSTRATED!!!! I now turn to you, my fellow Vette drivers for some friendly help.
Situation: The lease on my 08 Vert will mature in 6 weeks (03-03-10) and after driving the Vette for 2 years, I am so impressed that I want to purchase one. (I can't believe that the Vette won both my hubby and me over like it has. Generally, we are Lexus and BMW types.)
Want to Buy: 2010 Grand Sport Coupe, Jetstream Blue, Heritage Packag with two tone titanium/ebony (or either two tone ebony/titanium or titanium with embroidery), A6, chrome wheels, NPP, Navigation, transparent roof, ipod connection, and full width spoiler.
Problem: Two local dealers here in South Florida are not willing to order us our Vette and treated us like dirt, giving us the dealership run around. "The Grand Sport is a limited edition, nothing off of price and we only have one in stock with no allocation"... "We don't discount off of the sticker price and actually can sell them for several thousand over"... yada yada... Lies, lies, and more lies!!
SOOO FRUSTRATING!!!!
We qualify for both the GM customer loyalty ($1k cash) and USAA ($750 cash) discounts. Both discounts come from GM and have nothing to do with the dealership. Further, the Grand Sport is NOT a limited edition and should be readily available.
With only 6 weeks remaining, I feel compelled to act now because if we have to place an order, it can take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. We already have the finances ready to go.
I am beside myself. Want to buy a new Corvette and the local dealerships don't want to sell us one. This is NUTS! BTW.. They have many new 2009s on the lot.
Solution?? Should we place an order from one of the larger Corvette dealerships and if we did that, then what? Car delivered to the house? Any advice on what we should do??
This is new to us and thus far, we are not letting the local Chevy dealers force us to plan "B"...> go to Champion Porsche and buy a 911 Carrera S Cabriolet.
Your experience and wisdom in this matter will be most welcomed, fellow Vette drivers. Thank you!! DTG

I would look on jeffhardy.com to see if you can find your car at a different dealer...
if not, then I'd order one from one of the forum dealers and get it delivered to your door, I know two people who did it this way and they couldn't be happier, everything went smooth for them and they say they'll do it the same way again...
btw, the forum dealers will probably give you a fair price on the car, at my local dealer I've heard all that crap about "we can sell it at or over the sticker" bs, just walk away, or better yet ask them if that's the case then why do you have 09s on the lot when others are ordering 2010s for their inventory...

OK, give this one a try: www.bruceglueckchevy.com and talk to Becky or Bruce. I think they will order what you want @ invoice w/ no paper work or dealership charge. They are 1st class, no BS folks and have sold a ton of vettes. Quite a ride for you to Jasper, FL to pick it up buy maybe they can ship it to you. good luck!

Stingray Chevrolet has quite a few Grand Sports on their lot. They are about 20 miles east of Tampa. You might want to check out their website. Here is a link to their page on Grand Sports

see page 3 of their corvette listings
Best of luck

I believe they have the very car you are looking for. They seem to specialize in vets as their name would indicate.

I am another vote for Tommy Jr at MacMulkin Chevrolet. He understands the Corvette buyer and very good at keeping you informed. He will also give you a good price.
If you order a vette you really have four choices,
1. Take delivery at the dealership you ordered from
2. Arrange a courtesy delivery at a dealership close to you
3. Arrange for transport from the dealership to you
4. Take the Museum Delivery option
I think anyone who has done a Museum Delivery would highly recommend it.
If you order one you are at the mercy of GM's schedule and I am sure that it wouldn't be built in 6 weeks. It will probably take 2 to 3 months to get your car.
The other alternative is finding one in inventory that is the way you want at the price you want. If it is at a dealer that is not close to you then you have the same problem of how to take delivery.
My only real advice to you is decide on exactly which options and color you want and don't settle for anything less. If you settle for something less you may find you are not totally satisfied with the car. If this means ordering it and your without a vette for six weeks or so, so be it. It will be worth the wait to get exactly what you want.

By now - you should have the answers you are looking for. As a future buyer of a Z06 or GS - I have been reading about taking the delivery at the museum in Bowling Green, KY. Recently there was a guy who posted a three day account of his experieince taking the museum delivery, and tour... I can only say that no where can you buy a car and have this experieince of seeing the car being built - having the tour at the plant and museum - and experieince the thrill of seeing your car in the coral for the 1st time. I hope to have that experieince one day...
So get the best deal possible, and the guys at McMulkin are the way to go.... then have it delivered at the museum, and drive home in your new ride...!
Good luck in your decision!

We ordered our options, and bought our 08 coupe totally online with Corvette Conte. Rick did the deal flawlessy and a killer price ($8500 under mslp) 25 days online order to delivery in Bowling Green KY.
Trust me,,,, you really need to do the museum delivery if you order a new vette from any of the forum dealers
R8C National Corvette Museum delivery You MUST do this. You will understand why after you do it.
forget the dealers playing games,, so old school

Do what I did. PM ALL the forum sponsored dealers and ask them to give you a quote for the car you want. Rack-n-stack the results you receive back and go from there.
Tommy Jr. at MacMulkin replied the fastest and with the best price for me. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with too. I live in Alabama and opted for the (R8C) museum delivery and it was worth every penny. I'm sure however that MacMulkin can have the car shipped to a local dealership if you so desire.

Sorry to hear about your problems dealing with dealerships. Unfortunately, your story is all too common, especially in places like Florida and California where the sun shines all the time. I never have and still don't understand why GM does not clamp down on dealerships and put a end to the games and unethical business practices.
Anyway, as many have said you will need to buy somewhere away from South Florida and possibly out of the state all together. It can be a hassle, but you can also look on it as a bit of a get away/road trip to go get the car or just have it shipped to you.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!

We take care of our customers and treat people the right way ALWAYS. I have sold lots of corvettes to people off of this forum and they have been very happy with the way I treated them and the deal they got. Just like Whitelightning said I have had customers fly in from as far as New Jersey, and Texas, just to buy from me @ Stingray Chevrolet, I will even personally pick you up at the airport if you fly in to buy a vette from me. I have done it before

All you have to do is to find one of those terrible dealers down in your area willing to do a courtesy delivery. I paid $500 for a courtesy delivery here in Arizona. If that doesn't work, you and your hubby fly up to New Hampshire and enjoy the ride down.

I will buy ALL my future cars from Tommy MacMulkin. What a class act! And there are ZERO hidden charges. Nothing, he even sends you a prepaid overnight envelope for the paperwork.

I sounds like you won't have enough time to go through the ordering process in the 6-8 weeks you stated. Kerbeck has 2 JSB Grand Sports inbound that match your description minus the dealer installed spoiler. I'm not sure about the IPOD. I can't speak for Kerbeck but I ordered my GS there in late Nov. for over 5K off MSRP. and they were selling in stock GS coupes for $7K off MSRP at that time.
Good luck with your search
