Which is better? Painted calipers or Aluminum caliper covers?
What are the advantages/disadvantages of using the aluminum, body color, caliper covers vs painting your own? I've only seen pictures of the covers and wonder if they look as good in person as they do in pictures. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks,
JJ

I was contemplating the same options.
Painting is obviously the least expensive option, but it won't look as good or last as long, IMO.
The covers actually look very nice, but to get a good set, your talking about $300.00.
For that money, I think you'd be better off going with powder coated calipers.
The finish will be very durable, and the calipers will look more authentic.
I also question the durability of the covers.
I'm not convinced that they will stay on tight for the long term.
I've gotta believe the mounting components will eventually fail, and the covers will start to rattle or loosen over time.
Just my 2 cents.

I'd say powdercoating and a variety of color options.

I hand painted mine in March of '05 and they still look great!

caliper covers
I have recently installed CRM caliper covers on my 08.
Could I e-mail the pic to someone so they could post the pic?
Actually they look better than expected.
RPI did a nice job painting the covers. They do not paint them the body color often.

To me it just doesn't make sense to put a cover over something that generates and needs to dissipate a great deal of heat. Why add weight to the unsprung assembly and also hold in the heat?

Leave stock, paint, powder coat, up grade brakes are all better options. IMO of course.
