I took my car for a simple oil change to my local Chevy dealership. Everything was going well and they call me to charge me and say it was ready. So I pay and leave and went home. I was going to pop the hood and check everything and noticed the fender next to the hood is all scuffed up. So I hop in my car and drove back and went and got the mechanic and showed him. He said he didn’t do it he didn’t have anything that would do that it must have been me when I was washing it. So I ask for the general mangier he was not there they tell me to bring it back Monday and they would buff it out after I talked to 10 people. It pisses me off so bad that the mechanic can’t fess up to something he did. He had the nerve to ask me how I noticed it like I had it all planned out to make them fix something I did. I am never doing business with a Chevy dealership again.

Always do a good walk around before you leave ANY dealership.

A little late but sound advice. Hope they make it right for you.

Another good reason to DIY. The other reason is it's the only way to know it's done right.

diy man! those mechanics **** **** up all the time. you'd think ase certification meant something... nope, you actually have to give a **** in order no not jack stuff up.

they installed an engine and left brakets loose. installed an oil tank and broke a seal.
charge $150 for a brake fluid flush with garbage dot 3! i have a garage now and wont take my car to a dealer for anything!

Know your dealer if you're going to let them do anything. I've got one of the better ones. It helps that we bought 7 vehicles from them in 3 years.

I have to say and I am not defending the dealership, but the oil is drained from the bottom and then filled from the top. I don't see how the mechanic would have scratched your car filling it up it isn't like you need to lean on the fender to reach the fill port, unless he is a midget. As long as they buff it out nice for you there is no reason to sweat over it.

Did the tech use a fender cover? Do you trust the dealer to polish the fender? You may want to polish the fender yourself.

I do my own oil changes and nothing bad has ever occured.

I really feel for you. There is a reason why most here DIY for most everything. Myself included. Good luck on the buffing.

Local dealer here "Bryan Chevorlet" has the most incompetent service technicians ever. Never ever bring your vette there.

Had my first oil change on the car at a dealer and had to take it back shortly thereafter... the oil filter was leaking since they didn't tighten it enough.

Doesn't do much good unless you do a walk around when you arrive too.

Go to a dealer that has vast experience with vettes. I will not take mine to the local Chevy dealer...I take it to the dealer I bought it from that sold 161 corvettes last year (180 miles away). Their techs are know what they are doing.

I don't trust them. And unfortunately, the good ones are too few and far between.

My dealer is very good and I would not hesitate to take my Covette or Avalanche to them. When you bring the car in they do a complete walkaround of the car with you. If they find aything or not they write it down and have you sign it. When you leave you do another walk around to check the car out. Problem solved. Both cars have no marks and they stay that way.
