Who makes the best clear plastic floor mat protectors?

I have always hated these things but I am getting tired of replacing my mats every 2000 miles at over $100 a pop. No matter what I do I get these dents or wear spots where my heel goes under the brake pedal. I have tried every brand of mats and even the best ones show signs of wear with as little as 200 miles and are beat in 2000 miles. I ended up buying a set and using them and not caring what they look like and having another spare set for car shows etc...

I am thinking about trying the clear plastic protector I see so many people with. I will probably only use the driver side one since I never have an issue on the passenger side.

Who has the best set of protectors. By best I mean least intrusive look wise but yet protects my mats. I have a Callaway on order and I am guessing their mats are probably double what I am paying for the Lloyds now.

Thanks.

I use these. http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...9&dept_id=1593

With a stone driveway and black floor mats I don't have much of a choice.

When I drove my car in the rain or God forbid the Winter... I'd throw these in over the Lloyds mats...

Lloyds also makes and sales a heavy duty(with "pockets" to hold water/ snow). I think I bought them from Josh @ RPIDesigns.com?

Why not make your own? All you need is to buy some clear heavy duty carpet runner material. Draw an outline using your mats and then cut them out. I have done this for my Corvettes and they work great. I don't think I have more than $10 per set in material.

Where do you usually buy the material?

I bought this set of Lloyds floor mat protectors at Autoanything.com.

http://www.autoanything.com/floor-ma...&uniqueID=1927

These are cut for your specific year Corvette, so they have pre-punched holes for your carpet posts or carpet hooks. They're nice and I'm satisfied with them.

I have purchased the material from Lowe's or Home Depot. They usually have it on a large roll in the carpet section and you just buy what you need.

They're not clear but for all around durability and protection, I hear nothing but good things about the weathertech brand. Just thought I would throw that option out there for you.

I bought a set from MidAmerica but they never seem to lay flat. If I had it to do all over again, I think I would try a cheap clear set from Walley World and then trim them to fit.

I bought a cheap black set from Wal-Mart for every day use. They fit reasonably well. They are somewhat short, but do the job.

best, Ken .... 2008 Coupe
