Default 2009 CSR purchased by 77 year old father in law

Yeah, I already know he's a cool guy 'cause he had a '06 before that. But I don't follow corvette info like many of you so I am interested in this car. (I mean I do have a '97 with a 6.2 ltr in it, alot of cam, but for corvette currency, I do stay involved).

Is there a section or this forum which focuses on the CSR? I have not seen the car but it seems pretty cool.

Anybody with info? Are there really less then 200 of them?

no no, I mean know late model vets - I put the 6.2 ltr in my C5 (a year or so ago) with 11.5 to 1 comp, ported heads, LG headers, 4.10 gears, big cam, etc...so I get C5 (and beyond stuff)... I was (and am) just saying that I more follow LS stuff than Corvette trends so I am not familiar with the '09 CSR....are you familar with this 'vette?

I know that there were only 20 built in the Z06 version (10 Black, 10 Silver) but I'm not sure of the production #s for the base model.

Yeah, he was told by the dealer that less than 200 were made in the 'z51' model. It does seem cool; it is silver with black stripes and has embriodered seats with the "jake" emblem and such.

I am just trying to find out about it as I cannot get much from a google search.

It sounds like you are describing the CSC cars.

The Competition Sport Corvettes were base cars, either C6 or Z06, with a special option package that included a combination of performance and appearance features not normally available on the stripped cars. For instance, it enabled buyers to get HUD without purchasing a more expensive trim level with more convenience items.

The package was pretty hyped by GM and info is all over the internet. There is no special section on the forum because it was basically one of many special editions that come along each year. Here is Kerbeck's version of the standard info:

This is what you are looking for....numbers are very low as you will see!!!The plant was supposed to make 600 total gt1's and I believe 400 total csc. 100 for each body type, coupe ,vert,z06 and 2 colors for gt1's and 100 coupes and 100 z06's in the 2 colors for csc's . Hope this helps....

You Sir, are a credit this website. Many folks, sorta speculate, when a query is posted (I know, I have done it), but when someone actually has or recollects factual info, it's good stuff. Thanks. My father in law will appreciate your info. Have a good weekend.

Thanks for posting that info up for him vetehead! I guess I fell asleep during the time that car was being advertised because I've not heard of it until now.
It is very nice looking in silver, IMHO. The dark headlight buckets make me drool. I have blacked out all of my lights except the headlights and would love the dark ones like that car has. Not worth the big $$$ to change them, so I just remain envious!

I had not heard about them either other than the Base cars until a very good customer dropped his C6 Z06 CSR off at the shop yesterday.

I'll have some pictures of it up later today before we start the transformation!

I would also like to know the production #s of the base model.

In relation to the Z06 CSR, it is one heck of a GREAT Corvette, but there is a problem with it. The problem with the Z06 CSR is that a mere ten of each were built, and with only ten around, it is more of a collector item than a car, a car that you barely drive, and that is not the point in owning a Corvette. To make it worse, this is a racing inspired car, essentially a race car, truly raceable, a car that BEGS to be raced and driven fast and hard, but no Z06 CSR owner does that, because only ten were built. Too valuable to drive, unfortunately. A great car, but thats not the point in owning a Corvette. A Corvette is a car for the owner to drive, to race, to ENJOY.

When I buy myself a Corvette, I want a driver, a Corvette for guilt-free driving, speeding, and racing.

I do own a 2009 Corvette Z06 CSR, a Blade Silver one, in 1/64 scale by Greenlight, and mine has serial#2233 stamped on the bottom. I also own a 2009 Corvette Z06 GT1 Championship Edition, Velocity Yellow, 1/64 scale by Greenlight, and mine has serial#1443 stamped on the bottom. My 2009 Z06 Corvettes by Greenlight are normal cars, not Green Machine chase cars.

Once again, a Corvette is for you to drive, speed, race, ENJOY, not for you to keep it with 0 miles or Km on the odo.

There were 52 non Z06 models made for the CSR. I don't remember how many were blade silver w/ CG stripes nor how many were white w/ black stripes.

Here is the best site for the GT1's and CSR's complete with all the vin numbers which were specialized for these cars. I'm fortunate to own 2 GT1's, a yellow Z06 and a black coupe. I think the ZHZ Hertz rentals are listed too.

Actually this is where some of the confusion lies..the model is actually named the Competition Sport Corvette...but the center console cover and seats have "CSR" for Corvette Sport Racer (?)....one car, two names....telling folks you have or want a CSR will draw a lot of empty looks..of course I'm not sure the proper Comp Sport Corvette name will get you much more recognition.

Yes mods..this is an old thread but can we leave it alive for a bit as this is a rare car...nice to educate folks who weren't paying attention back in 09 to a very limited model.

If anyone knows of one for sale on the West Coast (in orig condition) I'd like to hear about it.

I thought you wanted a GT1? I did hear of a CSC for sale out here recently, thought it was on the e site, look around it still might be available.
