You can buy some hardware to by pass it (search on "CAGS eliminator") or you can put more foot into the throttle.

One-to-Four Shift Light
This light will come on when:
• The engine coolant temperature is higher than
169°F (76°C),
• you are going 15 to 19 mph (24 to 31 km/h) and
• you are 21 percent throttle or less.
If you ever have your car tuned, you can have the tuner turn it off. Other than that, just drive around it.

CAGS, pulling the fuse, or a tune. With a tune, like HP Tuners, you can turn it off and forget it. Oh and the right foot method works too. You just have to use it all the time.
I can't remember the last time the 1-4 skip shift kicked in on me. It never is a problem. Don't you just want to wind out first gear and bypass skip shift?, especially if you have NPP.

Yep!
At the top of the thread list is the "C6 FAQ's". There are several threads discussing how to bypass the CAGS (Computer Assisted Gear Selection) or "skip shift":
Installs in 5 minutes. Works great, no error codes, and worth every penny. The dash will still light up "1-4" when the conditions are right for it, but it goes right into 2nd gear.
I got the CAGS Eliminator blown smare-fuse version $19.95 found on this forum and it worked for awhile. It ended up getting thrown out by the dealer and I replaced it with a $3.50 (for 2) smart fuse which I blew myself.
That worked for a month or so, then it started causing the check engine light to come on. It happened several times. I have a OBD2 scanner so I knew what the problem was. I replaced the blown smart fuse with a regular fuse, cleared the code, and no problems since.
Just so you know, the blown smart-fuse route may end up causing the check-engine light to come on, it has happened to others as well.
On some cars, it seems to work fine with no problems. Just thought you should know. I know I get a little nervous when my check engine light comes on and I don't want to get used to seeing it on.
Any of the major Forum vendors sell CAGS Eliminators for $20 bucks.....easy DIY install & they work like a charm. I've had one in my '05 since new & never had a problem. Do a search on "CAGS Eliminator".

another vote for the rpm fix. After driving the car for awhile I realized the engine likes more rpm, and so do I. Now it never triggers the skip anymore.

I've lived it for seven years and two Corvettes. Didn't take long to learn to drive without worrying about it. All you have to hit is 2k RPM. Okay. Few occasions, mostly left turn lanes, I miss the beat. Overall, I don't remember it as an issue!
