It seemed once the vette passed the porsche, it pulled away pretty hard. Then, further in the clip, he was once again behind the Pcar.
Have any idea how that came about?
Great clip,awesome racing!
It was a penalty for passing in the Pit Out lane. He was forced to let him back by.
I think the win should have been given to the Vette since the Porsche forced him into the wall and caused the crash. Bad judgment on the Porsche's part.

It looked to me like the P car forced him to his left on to the pit lane out. The pass should have stood.
Now, the end of that race? The P car driver should have been arrested for felony assault and banned for a year from racing ---- what's up with forcing a guy into the wall at 150 MPH??

but unfortunately the officials didn't see it that way. Go figure? There's "defensive driving" but to run a competitor all the way into a wall going down a straight-a-way just isn't right. IMO the Corvette was the better car during those final laps. I don't know if Corvette could challenge the official decision but if possible they should. Great racing...thanks for sharing the link.

I have to agree with you on this one. The Pcar did that on purpose and luckily The Vette driver didnt get hurt. Tapping happens in racing and its not that big of a deal you just tap back but he tried to wreck the guy.

No where near 150 mph, try less than 80 at that part of the track. GM spent a few years winning GT1, with no other cars in the class. They got lazy and forgot how to race. They got spanked by the Porsche, and, after hitting the Porsche on turn in to turn 11, they learned that to win, you have to EARN IT. Tuff love, and real racing!
We had a big discussion on it when it happened here. There are some pics in this thread that clearly show that the Vette was in front of the Porsche when he decided to ram him. Both drivers are on probation for a couple races next season. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...ld-finish.html

The Porsche had every right to go in a straight line to the finish line. Jan knew the pit wall came out there. He hit the wall before he hit the Porsche. I don't like Porsches but in this case Jan would have been better off to move to the right slightly when they were side by side. He could have claimed it was an accident! He did not move right and hit the wall. It was Jan's fault. I like Jan a lot and he is a hell of a driver, as we saw. There will be a next time!
I watched the race on the speed channel. This clip is awesome, but the last 8 minutes of the race was like this. (without the wreck) I wish the entire last 10 minutes of the race was available somewhere.
