Default GS Faster Motor Trend 11/09

For all posts claiming the GS was slower than previous Z51 units Motor Trend states it was .02 seconds quicker than the Z 51 at 0 - 60 mark ( 3.9 versus 4.1 seconds and 2 mph at the quarter mile ). I guess it's who tests car but numbers are more like what GM said with initial introduction of the GS

Consider the source - It's Motor Trend....................

.02 seconds isn't much either - I think you probably mean 0.2 seconds.

Its got to be launch control..only way to explain those numbers with the extra weight...But does it really matter the GS is just another Beast in the stable of Vettes

Motor Trend is not as bias towards domestics as other magazines are.

Keep reading next month Car and Driver will tell you something different. Not sure too many people will make their purchase decision on that data, it is a fine Vette, just like all the others.

Are there any who aren't biased the other way? If you didn't tell the reporters it was a domestic car they would fawn all over it.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but how can they (any auto mag) test one car on a given day, and another at a different track, or even a week later and say the test is an "Honest" comparison?

Using my car as an example, & these #'s are from the EXACT SAME CAR.. with the SAME DRIVER... SAME TRACK... the only variable was "WHEN" I made the runs...

My car is an 05 Z51 A4 ....In Nov of last yr at Englishtown on drag radials, it ran 12.08 @ 115 mph last month Early Sept. on the same tires, & track with NO changes, it ran 12.38 @ 111 mph...

Next week I'll bet the ranch it will run 12.0x again... Weather is the big factor in ET..

the Z51 has no effect on ET or MPH as long as there is no tire spin... The GS has the same engine as a regaler Vette...also two exact same cars built on the same day, can race at the same track, & one of them will always be a "Tad" faster.. its just because of "Tolerance's" built in..

True throw a import badge on a domestic car and they would drool like dogs over a bone. Actually that is quite sad.

No, I didn't miss out on that forum. The other forum had run it's course with no facts but lots of " what ifs". Quoted old Z51 stats and different Z16 (GS) stats. GS Rocks

The article claims it's not due to lauch control, they were able to out perform launch control.

Fractions of seconds and 1 or 2 MPH. These numbers are so close that it all depends on the driver and particular car. Any production vehicle will vary in terms of HP and driver error/ability is always a variable. John Force could launch the same car a dozen times and will have a dozen outcomes.

True, but he'd have about a thousand word interview between each...all thousand words to be delivered in less than a minute. I love how much Ashley sounds just like her dad in her delivery...that and she's easier to look at.......

Yep, she sure is her father's daughter. I like them both because of the honesty and down to earth attitude.

I just read through the November C&D article on the GS spanking the latest 540hp, 3900lb Mustang at Grattan raceway. Their 0 to 60 time's on the GS are 4.1. It's one heck of a track car. I'm familiar with this track, and can tell you these guy's weren't messing around, turning time's like that on street rubber.
