Default What the heck is up with the rotor rust?

Seriously? This car is never driven in the rain, has 3k miles on it. And the rotors look like they've been pulled from a barn car or something...

WTF is the point of having "bling" rotors aka drilled, when they look like crap with rust?

All or most rotors will do that. Just because a car isn't driven in the rain doesn't mean moisture doesn't get on the rotors. You have to remember that humidity will cause the surface rust as well. Just drive it down the road and back and you will be good as new....for about a day or so LOL.

You are joking, right???? When was the last time you washed the car? Did you use water to wash it? Take the car for a drive and the rust will disappear.

Clearly, you don't care enough to "clean the rust off" like we used to "clean the carbon out". You need to drive it!

You obviously don't drive it much - try it sometime and the rust will vanish!

That's one of those funny things about mixing water and steel.

They should come with zinc rotors from the factory. I plan to replace mine with zinc coated rotors when the time comes.

Won't make any difference is the swept area.

Have you ever looked at the rotors on any other car you have had...they will look the same. All cast iron rotors will do it. Its normal

Haven't washed it since July. I've put maybe 200 miles on it since July.

You live in Georgia.....you could buy a rotor, put it on a table and it would rust...its humid there...no big deal.

Well, it's agreed that moisture with bare metal is the culprit for surface rust on the rotors, but I live in Virginia and it's humid here also and I don't have a problem with rust on the rotors. If the car is stored inside, even for an extended time period, it doesn't rust. However, if left outside in the rain (Heaven Forbid) then yes rotor rust will occur.

Every time I was car and wheels rotors turn to rusty color. I wouldn't wash them when they are hot with water.
How about ceramic rotors? Do they sell these for a base model C-6 Corvette? They last forever?

Mine never rust. Why - because I dry the rotors (along with everything else) after I wash the car. My OEM rotors did show a little rust on very wet mornings (not too many in San Diego) but I replaced them with Baer EradiSpeed-PLUS-TWO rotors which have a much deeper coating of zinc. I have not seen any rust on these.

Not so much here in the desert southwest. My axle nuts rusted over the years but I've never seen rotor rust here in Tucson.

No rust at all on my Baers either after 2000 miles so far.
