Good OLE GM SERVICE
Given the times you would think that dealers would be bending over backwards. Just called my local Chevrolet dealer for service. Him: When can you leave it with us? Me: I would want to wait. Him OK, what date?
Me: Wednesday. Him: I can't guarantee you won't have to wait all day. Me: I will take it somewhere else. GEEZ, he would not guarantee I would not have to wait all day on any date! Chevrolet needs to weed out these suito dealers and get down to some good ones that "get" the customer experience.

Jag = service appointment times, Lexus = service appointment times, local Toyota dealership = appointment times, Chevrolet = "may have to wait all day", I'm just saying....

I made an appointment last week for an oil change. Set it up for 10:30, showed up at 10:20 and was out by 11:30 after I was done drooling all over the ZR1's in the showroom. No problems at all.

maybe when the dust settles, the remaining dealers will be the best of the lot. my dealer always honors my appointment requests and has my car ready on time promised if not earlier. guess I got lucky!

Wondering what is going on?
I took my 06 C6 into dealer for GMPP $-0- deductible electrical warranty seat memory repair. The "New" service writer was the old service manager that I had gotten to know well. They are doing a "overhaul" of the dealer from the top down. His title on the card is "Assistant Service Manager" now, this is the interesting part now. He took the mileage down and and then unlatched the hood and lifted it for a moment and looked quickly from drivers side and then closed the hood. I don't know why because my car has been in their before with no warranty questions. What was he looking for, a warranty violation, a blower, FAST, etc? Is this a new policy, I will have to ask him the next time I talk to him, casually the next time I see him.
Any ideas? Please chime in. Thanks!
PS: They replaced the seat moduel at NO CHARGE.

All dealers are diffrent when it comes to warranty work. Some dealers will try anything not to approve a warranty claim. Others don't care provided the mod did not contribute to the warranty claim.

I would rather have a service dept. be honest then b.s.

It's to the point now where I'd rather rebuild my own engine rather than take it to a dealer for ANY kind of work. It's not just GM either, I have also had problems with Acura and Toyota but GM is by far the worst. I do as much maintenance and work, that I can, myself. The best solution is to try and find a competent independent shop but that won't help for warranty work.

I made an appointment to bring my Corvette in for service. Nobody touched the car the first day. Why did they book the appointment then? The service writer told me that they only had two techs certified to work on Vettes. Sometimes they fall behind, and then work on all the Corvettes is backed up. The people who make appointments really have no idea of the Corvette work load.
I haven't gone back to that dealership.

I'd JUMP for an opportunity to go to your dealership. They only let the Vette techs work on your car.
They could have easily put someone else on the job to work on your car.
They put quality before production and profit. And the service writer was honest.
Both are a rare thing these days.

I will not use the dealer for the Vette. No problem going to dealer for the Toyota though. I too have found that GM is really lacking in their dealership dept. The import dealers do a much better job, in general.
