In 1971 I bought my dad's 67 Mustang convertible, 289 3sp. It was a fun car thru college but rusted out bad. Then I had a Maverick with about a 60 c.i. engine and a three in the tree. That car rusted out just by looking at it and then became the bondo buggy. My wife, while I was dating her, had a 72 Mustang Grande.

being a GM/Mopar guy, I never liked any mustang other than pre 1972's. newer than 1972 ones are girls cars. They are slow and can't make power without forced air.

1970 Mustang Mach 1, with 351 Cleveland, 4 barrel carb, slotted mags and blue metal flake. 1974 to 1976. No pics, thanks to a burglar ransaking my house in 1984.

Safety Car
Owned one Mustang back in the mid-70's, a '65 GT coupe with the HP 289, solid lifters, 4-speed, four-barrel and posi. Sure wish I still had that car today.

I still have a black 88 coupe. Was an original 5.0/5 speed car. Last year, my dad and I yanked the drivetrain out and put in a 466 big block (.30 over 460) that has some work done to it with a stalled c6 tranny. Runs like a scalded *** ape now. Its now gutted with only carpet, and 2 race seats. No a/c, manual brakes, manual rack etc. Big and littles, its a pretty cool car.

Wow am I too late, had 2, a 69 Fastback Boss 302/4spd. that I paid 1,200.00 for, as well as a 70 fastback 351 auto that eventually went to my sister. Love the 69 and will get another soon......made most of my spending money running the outlaw class with it........thanks for asking good times back then,

1968 Mustang -- Black with a Gold GT stripe. Bought it new and loved it.
That car got tons of positive reactions and compliments everywhere I would go.
It was quite a few years later before I could afford a Vette.

years ago I owned an 88 5.0 LX with T-tops, which was rare
The car was manual of course. The car was blue with gray interior. It was a blast to drive
Sold it right after a small fire in the engine compartment that was contained quickly with no major damage, but felt I could not trust the car after that.

Have had three, all convertibles. A '99 Cobra, and a '00 and a '02. NEVER had any issues with any of them and were very fun and reliable. Love the Vette, totally different league of car but in the 'Stang's favor, they never left me stranded with a dead battery or a top that wouldn't raise. Still, I love the Vette...like a super hot woman with faults you can overlook.

I bought a new 1982 Mustang GT. High Output 5.0 liter. 157 HP, 240 ft/lb torque. 2 barrel carb., 8.4:1 compression ratio. It was rated as the quickest domestic car produced in 1982.

Mustangs are as much a part of automotive history ( and my car history) as any car ever made. They started the entire pony car craze. I loved them and I was about to buy one right before I was drafted into the Army. That event put a hold on a lot of things.
I still have a spot in my heart for the Mustangs, especially the early ones, because they bring back memories. Ahhh...
