Default GT-2 Rear Wing

Anyone out there with a rear wing ala the factory GT-2 racing car? How much was it and what trouble is it to mount? Also, is there a rear visibility issue with the rear wing? -Clark

I always wanted to see what it would look like on a street car. I think it would only look good on a Z06, not a base C6.

Adding a large wing on a Corvette would require mounting it to the frame bracing or it will will trash the fiberglass deck.

The GT wing is $3000.00. I could think of a better place to put three grand.

Most of the C6 racers I know use the APR Performance carbon fiber wing which appears quite similar to the Corvette Racing GT2 C6.R. I would never use one on a street car but for a racing application...absolutely. As for rear visibility, the roll bar and wing does obscure your vision from the rear-view mirror.

Here's a couple shots of the APR wing...one on a C6 and another on a Z06:

The wing on a street car (as mentioned) is rice...they're used for racing.

I would have to say that the whole big wing on any street car is gay especially a corvette. But not the C6R!

Wayne, thanks for the posting of photos. I really, really like the 2nd photo, of the red Z06 with the rear wing. That car is BEAUTIFUL!

Regardless of the various negative comments (rice, etc.) I will certainly consider the ~$1.5K APR wing for my 2010 Grand Sport Corvette. But, I will have it painted red, to match the car.

In the two Corvette clubs that I joined, nearly all the C5s and C6s are customized in some way. But, no one has a rear wing. That would set a car apart. And, hey, guys, who said my car would NOT be raced? False assumptions. -Clark

So you can order the C6R parts, no problem?
