Default Does your Corvette attract crazy drivers?

My son has a Ferrari. When we drive it, young guys and gals
yell and call out to us about how cool the car is.

When I drive my 2008 Crystal Red C6, I swear, I attract guys & gals
that want to race me with their Honda's/Toyota's and minivans.

Recently, many drivers want to show me
how fast their car can go and try to bait me.
One dude tail gated me on the 101 freeway near Scottsdale
at 80 MPH,close enough that I could see his eye color.
I just moved over. ( Photo radar is everywhere)

Just returned from a trip to Vegas. I had more crazy people want to pass me on I-40, and I was doing 80-85 MPH. Speed limit is 75MPH.

Is this just in Arizona, Nevada, or does it happen everywhere?

Most in my area just gas it real good going around or at a stop light where they are going by in front of me. They will stand on it for a second or 2 just so I can hear their exhaust. I had a lotus wanting to play just the other day, think it was the milan V8 something like that. Just grin at em.

Sometimes I don't even know I'm racing someone. I recently sped up to change lanes to get off the Turnpike and as I changed lanes in front of a truck that let me into the lane a Mazda in the lane next to the truck appeared at high speed, blocking my next lane change until he disappeared in the either.

I have wondered about this for a long time. My Melenium Yellow attracted every weido and LEC type everytime I drove it. Lucky for me I sold it and got a Machine Silver Metalic and that calmed it down alot. Now I have an Artic White and things are good. Some of it is the vette, but I think alot of it is the colors. Yellows and Reds drive people absolutely insane. At least where I live. White is great...

Default Tried to Pass a guy and he raced me

This one I could not believe.

An old truck, I guess he had a super-charger under the hood,

I am driving to California and go to pass this old truck. He would
not move over out of the fast lane and was doing 60 in a 75 zone.

So I floored it and tried to passed him, I go to change lanes and this
guy is blocking both lanes.

Oh well, I guess I'm not the only one to experience weird drivers.

Must say, I am a very courteous driver, I expect others to
react in kind.

Still waiting.

You are just noticing this now? how long have you had your C6?

The Vette is a very provocative looking car, you need to keep this in mind.

Some people just want to get a good look at it and others get jacked up when they see it. I have nut case radar and try to stay out of the packs. Many people want to impress you with what they think they have, its a given. I keep forgetting that the C6 is out of reach for most. So in turn it seems like an exotic to others. I think its better than the exotics IMO.

One thing I like about the C6 is the low snob appeal say compared to the Beamers or the Porsche.

You meet two kinds nice people who want a look and real Aholes that want to mess with you. I have no tolerance for tailgaters they usually go away if you ignore them.

I usually don't get those kind of folks, only 'cool car' and all the time.

Get that quite a bit, mostly in town. I'm apparently far less willing to risk a ticket, so I often "lose" these "races."

Charlie,

I have made those same drives and have had multiple incidents on both.

I usually get many more, "nice car" shouts then I get people who want to race.

Remember, Arizona, California, and Nevada all have a mess of transient (lived here for less than a year or two) and brand new residents. EVERY driving style in country finds a home here. That mix of styles and attitudes sometimes makes for more road drama then you will see in other places.

I also ride a motorcycle out here and have learned than on bike or in Vette if you think that everyone on the road wants to kill you, you remain aware and can avoid MOST of the idiots.

I get the same reaction in my AO Vette as you and your son gets in his Ferarri. There are ALWAYS idiots on the road no matter what you drive. Drive an SUV and you think you have a big magnet for idiots and environmentalists.

There is no question that all sorts of dip s%#$s love to ride your tail, try to beat you out at every light and love to whip in front of you. By the way, they did it to me in my Pewter 99 coupe and they do it as well in my 06 Monterey Red coupe. So I don't think it's a color thing. I tend to drive defensively (my wife says like an old fart), because I don't trust these pin heads. However, once in a while, where there is plenty of room, I do like to play with some, if they really tick me off. One time I was driving to a friends and had to get into the left lane to stop and buy a birthday card. Some rich jerk, with his lady friend refused to let me go in front of him to turn, or when I slowed he did too and blocked me ...in his yellow Porsche. That was just rude and my wife knew I was PO'ed. I still get mad about it. I could do anything about it since of traffic so I just had to pull over & make a u turn.

Seems to happen all the time people want to pass you or act like they want to race you. What they really want is to see a free display of the Corvettes power.
