Finally got the HUD installed!!!!
After studying many of the HUD posts on the forum and consulting with earlier installers I was finally ready to take the plunge. This has gotten to be a very affordable mod. A new display is less than $300 shipped. Switch is about $40 shipped. Bezel about $30 shipped. If you buy all the parts from one forum supplier, they can be had for about $300 plus shipping.
Materials for the harness were about $30. I built a couple harnesses. The 2nd was much easier than the first to assemble, but any way you look at it it takes at least a couple hours to asemble one.
I went the route of cutting the HVAC duct instead of removing the dash. Hanny said he did it in a couple hours. It took me 4-1/2 hours. I've got some pretty small hands(no comments from the peanut gallery please!), but you have to be a contortionist to get the left nut on the projector. I didn't help that it was about 90 degrees here today.
In the end the mod was well worth it and is every bit as god as others have said in the past. I was driving around with the top off with the sun beating down. The display was plenty bright.
Thanks to all that gave me advice, especially Hanny and GMautotech.

I haven't gotten photo posting down as of yet, but it looks like all the other installed pics.

As others have said, the base windshield looks great. Granted I haven't seen how it looks on a LT3 windshield. I would definitely not let the windshield hold me back if that is your only concern.

You need to host your photos someplace on the internet. Most of use photobucket. It's free. Here is a tutorial if you need it:

Just finished installing a HUD in my 2LT about 30 minutes ago. It works great no issues with the windshield either. I opted for the no cutting no removing the dash method which was a little tricky. All I did was loosen the dash bolts on the drivers side and use a little muscle to flex the top vent. I'm not saying it was easy, but it worked. Took about three hours and is definitley worth it!!!!!!!

Congrats on a successful install! I believe the HUD is one of (if not the coolest) high tech options on a vette. I love mine (factory installed) and wish all my cars had it. Makes driving more fun and the g-meter is a lot of fun. Good luck and enjoy your new high tech toy!
