Default Tire Question?

Can a Goodyear f1 emt tire be patched?

Sometime in the last 2 or 3 days I must have ran over what appears to be a large razor blade or a broken hack saw blade.

The tire shop said the cut was 1-2 inches in lenght all the way through and is to large to repair.

Has anyone repaired one of these tires or is a new tire in my future?

They can be repaired but under strict guidelines to maintain the warranty that they come with when car purchased. You can check with an authorized RF GY dealer to find out what you have. Take your warranty book with you - tires are 100% warranted for first year and then prorated after that. Hazard warranty comes with tire so don't let the dealer tell you otherwise. You may have to call Customer Service to educate dealer if they given you an argument. Your damage sounds extreme and is likely not repairable - sorry

A nail puncture "might" be repairable. In your case I have to agree with your tire shop. A cut that goes all the way through for that 1 to 2 inches length is an insurmountable weak spot in the tire. If your car is new enough you might still be under the GY warranty. If not then you need to just buy a new one. If you have to get a new one be sure to check with Tire Rack for price. Good luck.

I thank everyone who responsed.

First I call the dealer and got the run-a-round and that all they could do was sell me a new tire.

Not satified with that story I called Goodyear Customer Service and explained situation.

They give me a case file number and told me to go to a Goodyear dealer.

Hopefully I can get some satification. Thanks again for your input.

A cut that is an inch long definitely cannot be repaired.
