Why No C6 Corvette in NASCAR Races?

My interest in NASCAR has declined also since the advent of the stickered common body cars. I grew up with them racing 'real' Fords, Pontiacs, Olds, Plymouth, etc.-not a purpose built frame with a body attached. I attend at least one ALMS race each year and will be at Road America when Corvette will be running in GT2. That should be some real competition with Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc. And the best part is these cars will all be at least somewhat based on factory vehicles, not like NASCAR. The 'Vettes will have their hands full, I'm sure-not the domination they enjoyed in GT1. Hopefully the Corvette Corral will still have some GM support, but I'm not real optimistic about that...

Corvettes can actually turn BOTH directions. Nascar would be a step down big time for a Vette. And those cars are NOTHING close to the stock cars they used to be. So race Sunday, sell Monday doesn't make any sense anymore, because you don't go into a showroom and buy a Monte Carlo with an 800hp engine and the wheels cambered to turn left.
I understand everyone has their own opinions, but mine is I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Nascar.

At one point Nascar was considering using the Camaro, Mustang, and Dodge Challenger in the Nation Wide Series...I don't know what happened to that idea. Supposedly they were supposed to be Nation Wide's "Car of tommorow". From what I've heard lately, they are staying with the car models they are using now, just changing them in size and other safety equipment.
I have been going to the Indy 500 for 36 consecutive years and the "Brickyard" all 16 years. I sit in turn 1. I have NEVER seen empty sections of seats like I saw Sunday. It actually felt strange seeing so many empty seats.....also, Allstate announced they are pulling out as the race title sponsor. It is going back to just being known as the "Brickyard 400".
Times have changed and racing is experiencing a big loss in funding at all levels. Several big sponsors are pulling out...DeWalt is leaving Roush, Chevy, Dodge, Ford, and Toyota are ruducing their racing budgets condsiderablely........on and on....

It is very boring racing, I remember the old days when they had to produce 500 copies of an engine that the public could buy, in order to be able to race with that engine. We (the public) got some great engines in our cars due to that NASCAR rule.

Attendance is down because people don't have the MONEY!
Look at the baseball stadiums, particularly Yankee Stadium, where the $500-$2500 seats are now reduced to more than 1/2 empty at 1/2 price.
(by the way, for that price you get unlimited food).
Although the comment about Vette's not being big enough for all the car ads, that person was 1000% correct (besides other build factors).

Sir, I have raced both... Nascar (nascrap) cars are not fast on a road course. Ever wonder why they run a short course at Walkins Glen and Sears Point? It so you can't easily compare lap times to real race cars on the full course, which is what most race on.. Blah Blah Blah,,, 800 horse power. My 45 year old wife in a 115 horsepower Formula ford turned lap times that would have put her 4th on the cup grid that day. Even Nascar Daytona Prototypes are slow, and at VIR are 2 seconds slower than an SCCA one liter sports racer. ONE liter,, that is a 62 cubic inch engine. A good GT1 SCCA corvette would walk away from any Nascar Whatever they call them this year.. Oh yeah,, Car of the future,,,,Solid rear axle,, carb,, 10 inch wide wheels, 3400 lbs, Its not racing, its moving billboards, speed doesn't matter, all the sponsors must get equal time, so all the cars must be the same.
The Corvette does race at a higher level. Racing Rant over

Many, many, many years ago, before the bus stop at the end of the back stretch at Daytona GT-1 Corvettes were going into NASCAR turn 3at about 228 MPH while the 3,800# NASCAR cars were entering at about 195-200! The same was true for Charlotte, GT-1 into NASCAR turn 3 at about 194-196 MPH and NASCAR cars at 3,700# about 183-185! Of course the Corvettes were 2,600#, 2,700# or 2,800# with much wider sticker tires. All were dry sump.

They must have seen an old post of mine
Well they are moving that way somewhat. About a month ago they announced that Ford and Chrysler have both agreed to supply Mustang and Challengers for the Nationwide series. GM refused to agree to provide the Camaro though.

If Ford can run a Mustang, Chevy can enter a vette. Do they want fans or just boring racing.

Corvette races at much higher class level .....
NASCAR would be a step backwards.
