Those of you with *loud* exhaust, do you get pulled over?

Unless you are doing something else like reckless driving I doubt the police would bother with loud exhaust. I have not heard of anyone getting a ticket for this in years and that includes a few of my friends who have very loud Harley's.

I got a "warning" ticket last week end on the Dragon in East Tennessee. (Goggle it) The cop said he guessed my speed at 70 MPH in a 40 MPH zone! I said no way I can do that kind of speed here. He said that from the SOUND of my car I was going quite fast. (Corsa Sports)
As we were talking some Harley's went by that were so loud we had to stop talking until they passed. At any rate he didn't write a real ticket.

It's not the sound .. it's what yer doing with it that will get you looked at. I had a pretty radical L-88 based 427 with cherry bombs bolted right to the headers ..it was so loud I would have a headache after drivin it for awhile ..(12:1, tunnel ram, 617" lift x 332 duration solids, LS-6 heads shaved and ported ..it would pull the front wheels off the ground at 35mph in first, and run to 7k rpm in a heartbeat) ..never got pulled over.. just an outright fun car to drive:
The Vette with B&B Bullets was 'nice' even on long runs
..never even turned an LEO's head AFAIK.

I had my Chevy dealer pull the fuse on my NPP's shortly after I took delivery of my 08 coupe.
I have never been pulled over by the heat for loud exhaust.

I had a later year 347 Mustang for years in college in LA with either open headers or straight pipes at any given time. Drove it daily and it was Loud, never given any problems. They give noise tickets to Hondas...Very deservingly so, lol

Thanks for all the informative responses everyone, sounds like it will be ok to have a louder exhaust as long as I keep the car at the speed limit

Catch 22........louder exhaust means you will probably have a heavy foot on the go pedal and likely find yourself exceeding the speed limit more.
