Default Extending my extended GMPP warranty - best pricing?

The GMPP warranty on my 2005 C6 w/ 71k miles will be expiring in a couple months. GM sent me a letter stating that to extend coverage, I must have 2 months or 2k miles remaining on the current plan, meaning that I better take care of this in the next few days.

My purchase of the existing GMPP warranty, which covered with a $100 deductible the repairs beyond the 3/36 factory one, turned out to be a wise financial move and paid for itself a couple times over. I'd like to extend the warranty for 1yr/15k mi and have some questions for y'all:

1) How did you extend your GMPP warranty? Mine says to "visit your local GM dealer for details." I don't want to enter into protracted used-car-like negotiations with some sales guy, and no, I'm not interested in underbody protection or security etching. Alternatives?

2) How much did you pay for yours? And did you negotiate the price down?

3) Any recommendations on a particular dealer to approach? (I'm in the San Diego area, but I assume this doesn't mean I have to use a local dealer).

4) Any recommendations for a non-GMPP warranty?

Thanks. I appreciate your advice!

Default GMPP extended warranty

Hi Eric,
I just bought a GMPP extended warranty . I shopped the Chevy Dealers here in the Louisville market and a well known one here on the forum. The best deal I found was with Sudbay Chrysler,Chevrolet in Ma. I dealt with Michael Noyes and their # is 1 877 478 3229. He was very knowlegible and had the best price. You car is a year older than mine and lot more miles so the price will be much different. If a GMPP is available for the miles you have he is the guy to swing it for you. No, i don't have any other connection to him. lol.
Good Luck Let us know how you come out.

Hmm I didn't know it could be extended past the original plan. :

I second Dennis Fitchner BTW. I think he goes by CeYaBye on the forum... email him at gmpp@fichtnerchevrolet.com. Best prices anywhere.

Default GMPP Extension

Yes you can extend your original GMPP policy ONE TIME. Guideline is, you must have 2 months AND 2,000 miles left on it at the time you wish to extend it. Send me an email with your current miles and VIN and I will check out your plan for you and let you know when you expire. The extensions are not as reasonable as the original plan but I do about 5-8 every day. Another rule is you can not better yourself as far as deductible so if your original GMPP has a $200 deductible that is what you must renew with. If you have a $0 deductible the best is a $50 deductible.

Again questions my email is dfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com or gmpp@fichtnerchevrolet.com or my phone is 406-628-4618, Ext 105.

Dennis Fichtner

P.S. Thanks for the referrals from everyone, I take pride in what I do and get back to my customers immediately unless I am busy with a customer.

Can any of you who have purchased GMPP confirm something for me to make sure if Im reading the breakdown chart correctly?

Are the 'Term/Mileage/Deductible' figures Total? Or are those on top of the already existing warranty of 36month/36Mile that comes with the vette when you buy it?

One of the options has this as the coverage:
48/48/$0
That means which of the following?

-0 Deductible, good from the purchase of the car to 48 months or 48K miles? Meaning say I bought that option now and my car had 12,000 miles on it and was a year old...this option would only be supported until I reach 48,000 miles total, or exactly 3 more years since that would make my car 48 months old?

OR DOES IT MEAN.....

-0 Deductible, good from the date and miles at purchase of the protection plan? Meaning say I had 12K miles on the car and it was 1 year old at the time of purchase....this would be good until 48K more miles on top of what I have? Meaning I'm technically covered miles wise until 60,000 miles since I already had 12,000 when I purchased it. Same for the term. Is it good from the purchase of the vehicle, or from the date purchase of the plan? So If I bought it now, it would be good until 48 months of the vehicle being bought? Or say I had the car for 12 months before I bought the plan...would it be good to 60 months because I bought 48 months and it adds to that total?

I hope the above makes sense. Please let me know if it does not.

MyKill Myers

If you purchase a 48/48/$0 deductible it means 48 months from today or day of purchase and 48K more miles than your odometer has on it today and a $0 deductible.

Example:

Your car has 15K on it today, you would be covered till 7-29-2013 or 63K whichever comes first.

Props to Dennis. He is very easy to work with and aggressive on pricing. I used my GMPP for the first time this week and it is a seamless operation as the dealer call up on your VIN already has your warranty in there.

The only question about using Dennis Fitchner (sp) is you have to take it to a GM dealership..

What happens if you have some mods done, i.e. CAI or a Computer tune.. etc.. are you SOL.. ?

In another thread I inquired about US fidlity.... & was told to stay away (I did) but they said I could bring my car to any "certified" mechanic.. I know several, & if I did break a rear end, I know the mechanic would still get my car fixed...

What happened to those of you with some mods, & go to Dennis ?
