Does anyone know how to determine if, "The radio has the latest software available."? (Quote from the beginning of the installation instructions).

Thank you, Lou, for the instructions and the screen shots. The installation is similar to the Peripheral PXAMG aftermarket Ipod adapter that I detailed here:
http://www.kawal.net/ipod.htm
with the addition of the single wire routed over to the driver's side splice pack connector. Like the Peripheral adapter, the center console must be removed, which isn't a huge deal, but it is considerably more work than the other adapters like the USA Spec PA11-Vette. In those, you simply plug the adapter harness in at the XM radio module which is easily accessible.
Still, if the PAL is nicely integrated and ends up having more features than the aftermarket adapters, it will be the best deal. One thing to note is that the PAL does not seem to provide an auxiliarly input for other .mp3 devices - it's only for the Ipod. All of the aftermarket adapters provide this additional feature, which may or may not be important to other owners.
Also, since it won't charge the new Ipods and Iphones, you will have to buy a new charging adapter like this one:
http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=1337
which again, isn't a big deal.
I'll order a PAL tomorrow and install it in my '07 Z06, then compare its features with all of the aftermarket adapters. It looks pretty promising.

At a glance it looks like a lot of work to install but I don't think it will be too bad.
I hope there's another spot with enough room to put the PAL module instead of where the instructions show since that's where my Mild 2 Wild is.

Lou, there is one concern I have regarding the Class 2 Serial Data connection of the PAL wiring harness.
The instructions include the disconnection of Circuit 5781 from the main Class 2 Serial Data bus (pin K of the splice pack SP205). This circuit is for the XM Radio (the light blue wire on pin 15 of the 16 pin connector). Instead, XM Radio serial data will be provided by the new single wire in the PAL wiring harness.
Will this new connection affect the operation of the GM external CD changer? Since the CD changer plugs into the XM radio 16 pin connector, I'm hoping this was taken into consideration for the design of the PAL.
Thanks,
Ray

I have a new question. The installation looks a little challenging to me. Since the is a GM product, I am assuming (you know what happens when you do that) that if it were installed by a dealer then there could never be any warranty issues. If I install it myself, what does that do to my warranty?
