Then why the **** are you folks paying the salaries of the police if they aren't going to show up at crime scenes? I've spent my entire life under the impression that this is what they get paid to do. How disillusioning.

Cripes.

I had this same thing happen to me a few years ago. Beer bottle out the side of a van full of wannabe thugs. Broke my driver side window. I took chase. Cell phone camera got a nice pic of the license plate which I took to the CHP. Two weeks later I had a letter from the CHP with a case number and a cashier's check for $2000 from daddy

Sounds like the stupid driver was pulled in & the bottle thrower started it. Good for you in calling the cops &not beating the crap out of the kid or car.

To the OP. Nicely done.

ps... Did they ask about your speed when catching back up to them :P
Actually your wrong! I'm a state LEO and that was technically assault and a bottle can in classified as a deadly weapon! We had a women sentenced for striking a man with a bottle leaving him paralyzed for life. She got off easy IMO with 9 years for "Assault with a deadly weapon"!

Suppose that idiot had hit the OP's windshield and he swerves into oncoming traffic? That thoughtless act could have resulted in injury or death to some innocent people.

I very might well would have charged the "bottle thrower" with assault to go along with the other charges! I'd let a state prosecutor sort it out after I threw the book at them...........

BTW Kudo's to the OP for handling it with restraint but still getting them nailed.... GREAT WORK!!

Amen to that.
I think it would serve anyone to remember the, "their brains are not fully formed yet" consideration. Teenagers do REALLY stupid stuff, and rarely understand the true consequences of their actions. How do I know?

With some kids, just the right amount of guidance will get them back on track. Glad you did this in a responsible manner. If they have caring and responsible parents, you should get a thank you from them.

Exactly! Don't let anger and ego override common sense. This time it worked out great for all involved.

in Texas, you can take out your handgun or assault rifle and start shooting at them. Perfectly legal.
