Default GM Parts House Exclusive PAL Update!

Hi All,

Thanks to all my customers and friends here for your business, your constant referrals, and for choosing GM Parts House as your leader in GM Parts here on the forum. I’ve been given the great privilege to give you some exclusive information, first, about the GM C6 Corvette Personal Audio Link.

I will try to give you as much information about the PAL and what it works with, what it doesn’t work with etc.

The PAL currently retails for $189. I don’t know what my price to you will be yet. Please let me know if you would like to purchase one from me.

The first release will work on all 08, 09 and 10 models with NAVIGATION only.

My source says give GM another 6 months to come out with a different part number and design for non-navigation units.

They are almost 100% sure it works with 07 models, but will need to verify that further as they had an 07 radio, but not sure what year software was on the radio.

It does work with 05 and 06 models, but unfortunately, due to the difference in timing of the displays on the radios between 07 and up and 06 and earlier, it will not display the artist and song name on the navigation. All you will see is garbage characters from time to time.. but the PAL will function and act as it does on the other years, but the artist name and song title will not display. Obviously due to the costs to produce and engineer something like this, they will not be working on perfecting the version for 06 and earlier.

My source says that the PAL does NOT work with aftermarket navigation units.

The PAL does work with HUD units. It will flash the title of the song for 2 seconds on the text line display of the HUD and not the artist. It will actually show on the HUD before it actually shows on the radio as the HUD updates quicker than the radio.

In the 09’s with Bluetooth it does work and integrate with the PAL. If you get a call, it will slowly mute the music, provide you with the phone ringing sound and will pause the music. Once the call is over, the music will pick up where it left off.

I’ve seen many questions about the iPhone, etc.

It works and charges with all Gen 1 units, including iPod touch and iPhone.

It works with all Gen 2 units, including iPod touch and iPhone 3G, but does not charge. The two types of systems charge differently and they weren’t able to make the PAL work with all of them.

That is all the information I currently have. If you have further questions please ask here and I’ll see what I can do.

Last but not least, to further prove my exclusive claim, I have the full owner’s manual for the C6 PAL from General Motors on my site.

Thanks, Gene

Gene - Do you know if the GM PAL will work with non apple mp3 players like the Microsoft Zune or the Sony Walkman?

As soon as they verify PAL is compatible with the 07, I'm in. Thanks for your work, Gene. Not surprised they respect you.

awesome on the update - very interested in getting my 2nd gen iphone 3G into my 08 with nav. Sucks having to burn CD's as my taste changes with the wind lol.

Unfortunately the no charging on iphone 3G might be a deal breaker for me, as it would suck going for a ride and then showing up for the night with a dead phone that might be needed later.

Not trying to bitch -- as I know there are design limitations and you cant please everyone If the price is something I can't pass up though, haha i still might get hooked in

For anyone who has a newer iPod/iPhone that won't charge like the old ones did, you can buy this gizmo and it will work just fine.

FYI, old iPod versions could be charged with 5V (USB) or 12V (car). The new versions can only be charged with 5V. The gizmo I linked to above converts the car's 12V to 5V and supplies it to the correct pin in the docking connector.

WOW!!! Thanks Gene!!!

Is this really happening?

Count me in

My question: Once the PAL is connected, behind the center console I assume, will I permanently lose the six (6) presets that I had assigned to XM2? Same question rephrased, with PAL connected is XM2 always an iPod interface or just when an iPod is plugged in, meaning does unplugging the iPod revert XM2 back to XM presets?

Gene, I know that you are just the messenger and you have no control. But being a new device you think they would have concentrated on making it fully compatible with the newer Gen IPod and IPhone rather than the models that are no longer being made or sold!
