Default To all you Texans: front license plate

To mount or not to mount?

Me, no mounting the front plate. I would rather go with a ticket than a plate on the front of my car!

It is really tiring to keep reading that people would rather get a ticket than mount the front plate.
Get one of the painted trim plates, put the plate on, and forget about it. You cannot see it when you are driving the car anyway.

.... NC doesn't require a front plate BUT if it did I would put it on.

This is how I deal with the front plate issue here in Texas.

No plate - for years now. But it's all luck AND I don't drive mine that much.

It ruins the front of the car.

It's a cheap ticket that doesn't raise your insurance and the odds are that you will RARELY get a ticket for it. I've had a ticket for it once in 5 years.

I've never ran my corvette with a front liscense plate and I've never been stopped. I've met cops at intersections where they are looking directly at me and didn't stop me. However, I realize it is the law in Texas and if I do get stopped , I am ready to suffer the consequences.

I've had my C6 for 4 months now....no plate on front...

just take a look around at all of the cars w/o plates, not just Vettes....

I had an '05 Mustang GT several years ago and held off putting on a front plate....got me a ticket on I45 coming back from Houston....put one on aftter that....

I decided I'm going without on my Vette...I'm guessing that if I get pulled over for something else they may tack on a no plate fine, so I'm going to try to just watch myself...

In Texas, all you have to do is take a pic with it on if you get a ticket, and send a check for $10 in, they dismiss the ticket. I've had it done 3X now.... No way I'm putting a plate on the front of my $80K car, sorry. Just keep the pic for the next go round....
Most of the time you don't get a ticket anyway unless the cop is an *** and has nothing better to do.....
It's worth the $20 or so a year to not have a plate in the front, lol.

Default Texas

With Texas history of independence, I can't imagine why you all haven't revolted against the front license plate.
Maybe a protest caravan of hot rods, clasics, and Vettes to Austin to protest would start some thinking. Just think of the tax money spent making 2 license plates for all the vehicles in Texas.
Not to mention the waste of metal.

No front plate for 3.5 years and never a ticket. One warning from a State Trooper.

In TX it really depends on if you take your car into the boonies or not. In the big cities they usually don't have time to mess with it unless they are pulling you over for something else. State Troopers ALWAYS look at the front of your car if they stop you. But in the small towns, looking for quick revenue, watch out. Sherman TX will get you almost every time. And it is purely money. The judge doesn't even care if you fixed the infraction... $125 each time. I drive a lot of little roads so I put one on. After a couple months I got used to the look and it no longer bothers me. And I have never ever had anyone say "you have a beautiful car, except for that ugly plate... "

ive been pulled over and ticketed four times for no front plates.

I should also add that when they pulled me over it was for another infraction etc, but they just tacked the front license ticket on top of that.

When you go to court, all you need to do is bring a picture and they usually dismiss it.

I just cant imagine ruining the smooth lines of the front with that nasty plate.

I just got my first ticket in, well, I can't remember how long. It took me exactly two months and 1,000 miles to get a $60 ticket for failure to mount the front plate. Nice. Such is the Corvette tax in Maryland I guess.
