I have not had a battery problem with my 05 manual although I do keep it on a tender most of the time. However, I have noticed that I get three beeps if I get out without putting it in reverse. Possibly it was this rather than the fob creating the beeps.

Well then, you might be in for a nasty surprise in about a month. I picked my 09 M6 up late last August, and walked out to a dead car yesterday. I drive the car alot, so I was surprised to say the least. I bought an Optima Red Top, and will bring the original (very small looking) AC Delco in to the dealer for an inspection. Hopefully it's the battery and they'll credit me, but if not...grrrrrrrrr.

2005 6SP Never Had DBS - No Reflash
There must be some problem that affects some 2005. I still have the original battery. I did not even put the battery on a trickle charger this winter and the car started 4 months later. (I was going to buy new battery in spring) I have heard so many stories about vettes sitting for a couple of weeks and the battery having no juice.

I do hope it was not my post that you thought was "cocky". I already know that the 3 beep warning can be generated while the fob is on your person and also not related to DBS.
My intent was only to help you figure out why you might be occasionally getting the warning and a method for helping to prevent it in the future.

I sympathize with your frustration. Although there have been far too many occurrences of the so-called DBS problem, I believe the problem is the exception and not the rule. Not all 2005 MN6's suffer from DBS. My 2005 MN6 has never experienced any starting, battery or electrical problems (and I've never used a battery tender or priority start). Also, I've noted some people immediately attribute any starting or battery issue to DBS and such issues are not limited to the 2005 model year. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you contact your dealership about the 're-flash' which has cured the problem for many. Good luck!

Mine did the mysterious "3 beeps on exit" several times, and I too, had the fob in my pocket. After reading here, it turned out it does it when the car is in accessory mode when exiting. If you hold the stop button down too long it can put it from the off mode (red light on lower LH corner comes on) to the accessory.
Also - when I accidentally put it in accessory mode - I notice the chime sounding when I open the door.

Unfortunately these cars like to pull current when parked for long periods of time. Sooner or later your car will not start after sitting.
The ultimate solution to battery problems is a battery tender.
Its easy to do, and you have peace of mind that the car will start every time you take it out.
I have a Deltran "Battery Tender Plus", and would never leave my car parked in the garage without it hooked up. Mine plugs into the cigarette lighter. Been using it for almost 2 years. Great insurance.
Good luck.

Here are some facts:
1. All 2005 MN6 cars are at risk for what is called "DBS", or Dead Battery Syndrome, although it does not neccessarily affect every car.
2. DBS is directly related to the "shift to reverse" feature unique to the 2005 MN6.
3. DBS is not the only cause for a dead battery, but it is the most common cause for unexplained battery drain in the 2005.
4. Other than the 2005 MN6, battery drains are not classic "DBS" and can be caused by other factors, including weak or damaged batteries.
5. After nearly two years, GM did finally uncover multiple causes of battery drains and did issue a TSB which called for a computer reflash. This addressed classic "DBS" in the 2005 MN6 as well as some other issues that caused drains in other cars, including 2006's.
6. To be safe, any 2005 MN6 car should have the TSB done by a dealer. It has turned out to be a very effective fix.

FYI, this was also a huge problem with the C5s. My 08 has been fine since my last Corvette was a C5 I expected the dreaded dead battery syndrome but it has not happened once and the car will be 2 years old next month. Good luck.
