Default Performance Chevrolet, Sacramento, CA

Just bought a "new" C6 that is damaged from Performance Chevrolet in Sacramento, CA. Anybody had any similar problems with this dealer?

You might try and post this in the California section of the forum as well.

I purchased 2 new C5's including my new 2006 C6 from Performance Chevrolet and never had a problem with them. Take it back and show them the damage plus be sure to talk to the General Manager.

Why is the word new in parenthesis? Can you be more specific about the damage?

A little more input would be helpful.

It is a 2008 model. I live in Ohio. It was transported from CA to OH by a 3rd party. The car has been grounded and damage caused to fiberglass panel that wraps beneath the car on both the driver and passenger sides. It looks as though someone tried to use touch-up paint. You can't see this damage unless you look beneath the car.

You dont say if its new or used? What does grounded mean? Maybe sounds like rocker panels were damaged during lifting but I cant be sure from your description. Did you buy it sight unseen?

What he meant by "grounded" was the car had been high-centered and the rocker panel(s) was touching the ground and was scraped. I saw the damage, he will post it soon.

Car was untitled, which to a dealer means it is a new car. Yes, the rocker panels are damaged. Looks like the damage was caused by a high center. I bought the car unseen from a reputable dealership.

Well, there's a 3rd party involved which complicates things 99% of the time.

Now that we have that established, did you speak to the dealer? Did you speak to the transporters?

You need to contact the dealer and the 3rd party and get it taken care of.

Dealer doesn't want to know. They blame transport company. Transport company doesn't answer the phone. Also, the owners manual and navigation disc were missing. Inside also dirty, including green 4-leaf clover confetti to wish me luck!

How is it Performance Chevrolet's problem? Did you pay them for it?

I have purchased the car from Performance Chevrolet. However, I didn't pay for a damaged car. I paid for a new car.

I purchased mine from Performance and was mostly impressed with how I was treated and the condition of the car on the lot and at delivery. Of course, I also live in the area and could directly see the product I was buying unlike your situation. I hope that you dealt directly with Kevin (co-owner of the dealership) and not one of the other people at the dealership. He was very responsive to any issue that arose regarding my sale. I can't say that about a couple of others there.

Being a new '08, it apparently has been at the dealership a while which allows for more chances of it being damaged while sitting in inventory. But there are certainly many possible causes from being transported also. Was there any other substantial damage to the undercarriage besides the rocker panels?

Hi Vinnie,

No damage to other parts underneath. It has been up on a ramp for checking. You cannot see the damage unless you look under car at panel that fixes to the chassis.

I found the sales people to be helpful which is why I proceeded with the sale. It is Kevin who is being less than helpful now. He can't accept that the damage may have occurred before transportation. He doesn't even want to know the details. I can't prove it one way or another. However, when I am repeatedly told the the inside of the car has been detailed when it obviously has not I get suspicious of the people who keep telling me it was detailed more than once. The car was recorded as having 106 miles at the time of sale. So it has obviously been around the block a number of times while at the dealership.

I just didn't expect this problem.

I said the owners manual and navigation disc are missing. The documents I do have look as though they have got wet at sometime. It all starts to add up.

I dealt with Kevin (co-owner) every time as well and has always treated me fairly. I have a hard time believing that he would allow a car to leave the lot damaged - at least knowingly. They are a high-volume Corvette dealership and have a lot of return customers. Unfortunately, the OP bought it site unseen which could be very difficult proving fault.
