Help! Rear hatch opens when car locks!
So I had the phantom CHMSL recently:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...-is-doing.html
That seemed to resolve itself. Now, I have the relay clicking behind the nav unit when I apply the brake and/or use the RIGHT turn signal. Each time the turn signal 'clicks', an additional relay click is heard behind the nav.
So far I have removed the right tail lights and disconnected/reconnected the tail lights and the CHMSL, checking for moisture or a loose connection.
My hatch release button has never performed consistently and it doesn't work at the present. While I was in there for the lights, I unplugged and replugged the hatch button.
Now, when I leave the car, the tails flash as the car locks, and the hatch pops open. When I push the lock button on my fob, the tails flash and the hatch pops open. When I disconnected the hatch button on the car from behind the bumper and pushed the lock button on the fob, the hatch popped open.
Any ideas?

I tried to find the fuse responsible for the hatch to check it (or pull it out so my hatch doesn't just open while I'm at work). I can't find it. The map in the manual and the one on the fuse lid shows it on the bottom left, but there is only a black box with a grey "Omron" unit inside, no bank of fuses.

It might just be some type of interference. Check this post:

I'll check out the harness described above. Is that something I can clean up and fix myself, or am I heading toward a dealership visit?
Thanks to all for the info!

I had the same issue, first the CHMSL stayed on, then when I wiggled the harness the light went off but then my hatch would open unexpectedly. Also noticed the clicking noise of the brake relay and when I turned on the signals. I cleaned them and it works fine. The water came from a small gap on the aftermarket rear spoiler I installed. Since I knew they probably wouldn't cover it under warranty, (Because I created the leak.) I just found the problem and cleaned the bluish greenish corrosion off of the male/female terminal ends and it worked fine. I then positioned the harness in a different location and wrapped additional electrical tape around it avoid water damage. There was a TSB on the problem regarding the center light problem related to the harness but I can't seem to locate it now and I didn't find it until after I solved the problem. Once I disconnected the harness, I saw the problem. BTW, you have to reach way down into the bumper area to find the harness as I recall, but I have the shop manuals so I knew where to look. Having said all of that, if your car is under warranty you can just have the dealer fix the problem but it only took me about 10 minutes once I located the problem and I don't like leaving my car there all day for something minor. Hope that helps.

Behind the inside right tail light is a box bolted to the car wrapped in felt, behind the outside right tail light is a plastic gizmo that connects two clusters of wires. Are either of these items the harness of which you speak? I'm trying to take pictures but my computer is giving me a hard time.

This part, located behind and below the outer right tail light, seems to be the culprit. Does it come apart so I can clean it? I've tried... but I don't want to break anything.

The harness shown in the photo is the correct one. It should have a tab on one or both sides ( I can't recall) that you gently pry up and open to release the connectors. You pull both connector sides apart.
Once that's done, look at the ends of the connectors and see if there is corrosion on any of the contacts that are protruding and clean. Also look at the socket end and clean as well. The "plastic gizmos" are connector housings of the wiring harness.

Thanks again, steveb601!
The photo makes it look as if I have perfect access to the harness, while in fact I am working through the tail light holes semi-blind...
Seems like jiggling the harness has eliminated the console clicking so far.

Glad to have helped. I think it may also have some clips holding it down as well ( I can't recall for sure) but i was able to get it close enough to the opening of the tail light to be able to take apart and clean. If the jiggling resulted in a change then I think you are closer to solving the problem by cleaning the contacts.

Well, my external button for the hatch still doesn't work, but a least the turn signal clicking is resolved. Seems like this was the problem:

Wow, that is some nasty corrosion....I'll bet the button has similar stuff....needs something to inhibit the corrosion, like a spritz of WD40 before it goes back together.
With our humidity here at 11% today, I'm not concerned about mine...
