Firestone Wide Oval Question
Do these tires also come in the non-runflat version in the standard C6 size?
What do the sidewalls say in the case of the runflat version (e.g. the Goodyears say "EMT").

I believe they do make a version of the non-run flats. I purchased a set of Wide Ovals 2 weeks ago because my GY's in the front were so run down toward the inside of the tire I got so nervous taking it anywhere and they only had 12,000 miles on them and they were the original tires. The Firestone Wide Ovals will say RFT.

RFT. I just put the wide oval runflat Firestone Firehawks on my 08' vert and they are really quiet. You may want to reconsider. The tread pattern looks like they will outlast the GY's, which were really unsafe at 14K.

I have about 1k on mine and they seem to get better as time goes on. Great warm weather tire, smooth riding and much quieter than GY. Several corvette buddys of mine have gone to them and love the tires.

They do outlast GY Supercars. I had 22,000 miles on my set before I swapped out for the Z06 conversion and they still look like new. BTW, tires/wheels are for sale.

Almost, if not all the Wide Ovals are NOT runflats....except for the C6 sizes. 245/40-18 and 285/35-19 are the only runflats I believe. Made specifically for our car....

Click here for the complete Wide Oval spec sheet.
BTW, I've had them on my '07 for almost 35,000 miles now. The rears are getting a bit thin, but still going strong.

Just as a follow-up, got my Firestones yesterday and even had the opportunity to drive them in the rain today.
So far so good, I'll be taking a long trip soon so let's see how they feel.

They can be repaired. I picked up a screw in a rear tire the same week I had the Firestones mounted. It also gave me the chance to test out running it without any air. They got me home from about 10 miles away without any problem.

Good to hear. I've started carrying a small compressor as added insurance - if I'm in the boondocks, it can help, in most cases, extend the trip prior to getting it repaired.
