I truly believe that the Saturn Sky or the Solstice will be reincarnated as a Chevy and will be made more in the mold of a Vette. They need to work on power, weight, space, and build quality issues. The convertible top was a really strange design to me.

I had a Solstice GXP for 18 months and loved it. It was quick, nimble and a blast to drive. Only problem was space. With the top down you had room for an overnight bag at best. Still a great car for day trips or just tooling around town

it does exist but the u.s. will only have about 1000 of them. i saw pictures in car and driver and it's one hot looking coupe!

I definitely wouldn't buy one now since the Pontiac name is gone and their value will drop like a boulder.

Personally I don't see how a Solitice can outperform a C6 if the C6 driver has any driving skills. Corvette's chassis is better by far and a 10-12 hp to lb ratio doesn't match up to less than 8.

The Solitice/Sky are definitely nice cars but they are not a comparision to the Vette besides they both have 4 wheels and a steering wheel. For me it all comes down to safety also. I much rather be in a C6 if some idiot runs into me. Small cars are not that economical when you are paying big time hospital bills or are 6 feet under.

The Cobalt SS is more like the baby Corvette and the Camaro is the slightly younger brother. I'm not a fan of Pontiac's personally.

That would be one quick little car. I think I saw something a while back where they put an LS3 in to see how it fits and performs.

I suppose the fact that this is a Vette forum could help explain that.

I was originally shopping for a Solstice GXP or Sky Redline until I found out I couldn't fit in them with the top on (6'3"). Turns out the C6 was the ONLY two door, two seat car (within $50k) where my head would fit. Bummer huh?

The fact that you need to ask this question tells me you should buy the Solstice.

There is a kit for the solstice where they drop either an LS2 or 3 in the thing and it becomes a friggin monster. 2800lb body with a 400+ HP engine = Bad A$$ Car

But I'm sure an LS2 or 3 weighs more than the current 4 banger. Besides the Vette already has at least 430HP in a 3200 lb car. Watching the Solstice's chassis trying to put that power to the ground would be real interesting.

Actually one member here did go the other way about a year ago. A thread I definitely wouldn't mind forgetting.

My brother has one of those. Other than people telling you its a "cute" car theres no comparison. You would be terribly disappointed. The C6 is a much higher performing vehicle.

Absolutely beautiful car. Very small interior; no storage space behind seat. It would be a fun car if one had some spare change lying around ($25k--$30k). It would be like comparing the original 6 cyl mustang to a Mustang Cobra.

Now, someone is putting the vette engine in the Solstice and charging around $60k, which means, you can simply buy a real vette for the same $$.

it would be like comparing a moped to a Harley sportster.

IF I would consider buying a car like that it would be the Sky. The Solstice isn't even close to the looks of the Saturn!!

Cool car and would be easier to get acclimated at AutoX. Not for me, but they're great cars.

The V8 is about 150 more lbs tops to the 4cyl. so the gap now narrows to about 300lbs lighter than the current vette. If the solstice has similar gear ratios as the vette, it can be faster since 300lbs of less weight is a big difference. Yes the solstice chassis would have a hard time getting it to the ground which is why I stated that they refine the body a bit, increase the wheelbase and width a little more.

I remember the everlasting thread... I really hope GM doesnt make a stupid move and start calling the solstice the new vette. I think the car looks too feminine, (its a nice car) but it looks like a toy. I wouldnt even compare it to a vette.
