How come the corvette doesn't have a backup camera?

Backup? Who backs up?

because it's not a factor in purchasing decision...ie.they don't have to put it on the car to make the car more attractive to potential buyers. It's the same reason the leather is poor. Buyers will buy regardless of leather quality....that's not why people buy the car.....they buy for performance and looks

it didn't get to be a light sports car with incredible performance by adding backup cameras, massagers, cooled seats, and all that luxo stuff.
Purpose built -- no sissy stuff.

I also can't swallow that 3345 pounds is light. Now a sports car, such as the Austin-Healey Sprite, which weighs 1435 pounds, is light. But a car that weighs as much as a 1967 Impala coupe is not light. Even in 1955 the Corvette was not light. At 2910 pounds, it was heavier than a Ford Thunderbird (2833 pounds), and less than 300 pounds lighter than a full size 1955 Chevy Bel Aire sedan. The Corvette has always been a heavy car, and since at least 1970 it has more and more become a luxury touring car, with gizmo after gizmo added to it.

I like something more substantial than cloth over my head. However, I have driven enough trucks with trailers to know how to back with just the outside mirrors. Having good rearward visibility through the back glass of the coupe is just a bonus.

It's a sports car. Would you rather have all the performance and engineering for the price we pay, or would you rather they cut back on just a bit of that in order to have a camera so you don't back into an old lady with a shopping cart?

Get a lockpick 360 around $ 350.00 and a camera for around $ 130.00
and you will have yourself a backup camera, an Ipod adaptor, and a video adaptor.
Aftermarket, but it works with your OEM equipment.

It has 3 mirrors and most owners even "older" ones like me can still turn their heads.

Spoken from a Z06 perspective...
I like Gadgets and Gizmo's / Technology.
Buy a Z06 if you want the performance weight saving version. Oh wait you did.
Now a backup camera is helpful but I would like to see some Radar installed on this car.
Front and Rear Radar sensors tied into the Computer.
I've missed the trash cans twice in my wifes explorer due to those little sensors!!

A Back-up Camera??? I still can't believe they have NAV.
WOW... the Corvette has become a YUPPIE machine.
My hope for the 2010 Z06 was that it would become a stripper car... no gadgets, less sound deadening, and a cheap radio...
