I listened and heard nothing from this former financial analyst for GM. Not trying to be critical of him but it sounded as if he knew nothing about Corvette except a few choice words. No confidence vote.

Interesting. My take on his comments are:

They have studied the future Vette architecture (C7??). But to move the Vette to a higher level would take a huge investment...which isn't going to happen now. They will eventually.

The C6 architecture is solid, they will continue with improvements each year for the foreseeable future.

I'd agree with moving on with the C6 platform and that means, with the '10 already coming out, at least a few more years of C6 chassis.

I agree Bill, I think that is the best GM can do at this time. They certainly don't have the capital to invest in C7 development now.

But he also says something else...or doesn't.

That is Corvette is not dead. It's not going to turn into some Nancy Pelosi mobile that some on here fear. Corvette will be around for along time. It just may be awhile till we see the New C7. So what!

Improvements to the engine (direct injection) and to weight savings will give them added mpg and better performance. That alone will sell more new vettes and help keep it alive. Fritz isn't very specific, is he?

Oh ya...and it wasn't long ago that GM said the Pontiac would remain in a limited role........now it is gone! Always listen to what they don't say.

This could be the longest run for a series in Corvette history.

Sounds like they'll be more "big performance" improvements then, to the C6 for the next couple (?) of years.

I don't know who you were listening to...this is a guy who owns a C6, 05 yellow vert. He has a model of the Vette in his office and I just heard him say that the Vette is alive and well with improvements being made to keep the car moving forward. He did say that the C6 is a great car and that major changes (read the C7) are coming in the future.

I'm not sure what we know for sure yet about specific Pontiac models. The G8 and/or Solstice could become Chevy models...who knows? It doesn't mean the end of all things...yet.

We have a long time before that is the case. But even if it does go that way...it is one hell of a platform to build from!

I read in the Pontiac Solstice forum that the Solstice was scheduled to be stopped in 2010 from the get go. Too bad it was not continued into more development. I checked out the production figures and less of them made than C6's for the same year.

I never cared for the way that car was built. I looked at one and it just didn't get "finished" in my opinion. Thought the same of the G6 convertible. It just looked like the engineering guys had left with a very early version of how the convertible top should work. Good riddance to some of those cars.

I feel optomistic about the future of the C6, evolution will continue. The C7 is now years off, however still in the crystal ball. The thing I question about the video is how much I can count on the truth of the interview. As one poster above said, the Pontiac was supposed to be a niche brand, or so we were told. These are the same people that are telling us the C6 will continue to evolve and the C7 will be some time in the distant future. Lip service I ask????

the C6 is a hell of a platform. It makes sense to keep it as it is with evolutionary changes.

The economy is in the dumper so creating a totally new corvette C7 doesnt really make sense..

I appreciate the interview link ...

It's hard to tell what will happen, of course. The economy will, in large part, determine how things move forward or don't.
