I ordered mine through Gene Cully, GM Parts. He is a forum vendor. You can easily do a search and simply ask him for the part number. By the way, that mod made all the difference inside the car, it looks awesome. And the bonus is it eliminated the old 'tombstone' panel since I do not have the F55 option.

I too hated the look of the cheap center console bezel in my '07 (sorry but it IS cheap lookin'!). So I had a local high-end audio shop cover mine in the same material as the dash. I think it looks a TON better and it only cost me $100

You might want to do a search on the console. You'll need to know how to release the switches/plugs to do an R and R. The 12v plug in the center console is a female dog to get out because the release is on the top of the the unit and requires a dentist tool or something similar to access the release. If you have an automatic, the shift boot and **** removal can be frustrating because there is a plastic tie jsut under the chrome ring that GM's instrutction in the manual fails to expalin. I cut it and left it out with no problems to date.
Ray Kawal did a great tutorial with pics but I can't seem to find it. Anyone else have that or similar link?

How hard to switch?
I am interested in the '08 console panel or switching to a painted '05 version. How hard is this to switch? No big deal or lots of little switch breaking potential? Curious?

If you purchase the complete center console, such as this gentleman did, then you won't have to worry about the cigarette lighter nightmare. It comes with that, the chrome trim rings, etc.
It is not a problem for the 2005 either. You just have to remember this console goes all the way back and does not have a tombstone, area with your airbag status indicator, so you'll either have to drill a hole for the airbag status indicator or you'll have to leave it underneath the console.
I purchased a pick set from Sears for this kind of stuff. I think it was like $7 and it will help you with the removal of the switches.
This is not a hard install. It just takes a little patience.
