Why obviously? No, they just left a big ugly gap.

The US government might own GM but obviously the bean counters are still in charge of the engineers.

Honestly guys... these are the replacement parts with a gap meant to be there and there is no redesign of the center piece!

Thanks, Gene.
So the center piece is not essential for cooling?

I found a few LH "old style" #10301851 C6 air deflectors still on parts shelves when I did a search recently at Wilsonville Chev in OR 503-454-2000 or Jerry Seiner Chev in Salt Lake City UT 801-956-3160. The parts dept folks should be able to help if anyone is interested in acquiring the original piece.

Gene, I appreciate you and Paul taking this up for us.. While I don't need any of these parts just yet, I don't want a gap so its my hope that they'll still make the old ones.. If not maybe someone else will step in make them...

I was wondering the same thing. Why can't we just remove them? Is it going to have an adverse effect on areo dynamics? Fuel mileage?

Something is very very wrong here. I just got back from a factory tour at Bowling Green. They were still building 2009s but about every 4th car on the line was a 2010. EVERY one of them had the front air deflectors that have been used since 2005. EVERY ONE.

Only the Z06s and ZR1s had the short side pieces.

Maybe these are for the wide bodies and they inadvertently screwed up and listed them under the wrong part number??

Thanks for posting what you saw at the plant. I still think there may be some confusion about the correct service parts for the regular C6's and this really needs to be corrected by GM. I do have my spare set just in case it never gets resolved.

LOL, there is no issue with the replacement parts. I'm sure they're going through what they have left coming at the factory and that's it. There is no confusion.

Default Great news!

I just could not leave this alone, so I decided to order another set from another local dealer. The parts manager is a great guy and very customer oriented. Well, today he calls me and tells me that he checked dealers as far away as Kentucky and Michigan that showed the original LH part numbers. All of those dealers said that they were really the new part number and not the original one that I wanted. So now the parts manager is determined to find out what is going on and he calls GM. They admitted to him that the new LH part number was wrong and is now corrected. The only problem now is that there is no inventory in the system and will take some time to get resolved. This also explains why the RH part and the center section had not changed yet. Long story short is that the original parts will be available just as another poster said when he saw 2010's being built with the original air dam design. The "new" part was actually never intended for the regular C6.

I removed the sides quite a while ago. After ripping up three sets that was enough. No issues with them gone except now only the center scrapes from time to time, and that doesn't show anyway.

This was a "we made a huge mistake, let's put it back" type of thing, lol.

Nothing confirmed on that yet though.

Still the few "full curve" LH deflectors may still be available at dealers in UT & OR as mentioned earlier. I also checked the Z06 we have in our dealership (built 04/09) it has the full wrap 3 piece deflector with no gaps.
