Pre-Briefing the Spouse prior to letting them drive?
Sooo...After two months being deployed I finally manage to get home last night. Other than a case of Dead Battery Syndrome and a healthy accumulation of dust on the 09 Cyber Grey she's right where I left her...
Early this AM my wife tells me that she's off to do some shopping with the girls in the closest major city to us and that it is her turn to drive. (Seeing where this is going, I try and mentally figure out a way to justify putting my 1 year old's car seat in the vett, but decide against it. I've got the day off anyway so I was planning on spending it with my little girl anyway.
So, I wash up the car for this AM her and give her the pre-brief:
1. Curbs are Bad
2. Tickets are not funny
3. You are always 2 seconds away from killing yourself or losing your DL
4. It's just a car-so have fun and enjoy
5. No Boys.
6 hours later I get a call from her and she casually mentions that they got lost, but found their way back to the highway via a dirt road.....
The car has 1125 miles on it and a NAV system. WTF?
Guess I'll add the Dirt Road Rule next time.
Sometimes you have to laugh....

I wouldn't let any girlfriend of mine drive my car, but if I were going to let a friend borrow it, I'd make sure to let him know the following:
1) A powerful RWD car is easy to lose control of. You can't floor it from a stop and expect the back end not to step out. You also can't give it too much gas in a turn and expect not to spin (people who drive FWD cars probably don't realize this)
2) It's got the turning radius of a mack truck, so be careful in parking lots. My boss almost crashed mine 10 seconds after pulling it out of the parking space because he didn't realize the turning radius was enormous
3) It's low, so go up ramps/speed bumps slowly and at an angle

No damage and I guess in the end it all worked out okay, and now you get to clean it up again.

Would'nt have the C-6 since my wife is the only one working so have to walk on thin ice giving driving instrutions and there is no way I can say NO.. Since her 2004 Grand Prix which we bought new has NO door dings I will say she is really carefull where she parks and what she does with the car... She doesn't drive the 69 since she is kinda on the short side and has a hard time reaching the pedals so lucked out there...

Since Mrs Goose is the only member of the family who has never gotten a ticket, been in any accident, no close calls, no deer collisions, and is a most excellent and intelligent driver, I figure she can handle herself in any car. (no, she isn't standing behind me).

For me, the wife has put two small chips in the paint just opening the darn door. I figure if you can't handle the door, then there's no way she'll handle it as a driver!
She's already backed the TrailBlazer out of the garage twice without waiting for the door to go up. Once she popped the door right off the tracks. I'm happy to take he out in it, but there's no way she's driving the Vette. Sorry...
