Default Rusty rotor fix?

Newbie here and now that I've had my Vette for 23 1/2 hours I have a gripe, although very minor. What is the best way to cover the rust on the inner rotor area, it is like a huge zit on a supermodels.....um.... forehead. I know I saw someones pic where they black painted it and it looked good. Any particular paint? High temp engine paint? Do I worry about getting it on the contact area or does that fix itself without problems after the 1st stop? I am sure it has been discussed, but I didn't see it when I searched. It is very obvious in person at the 10-11 o'clock position on this rotor, and it is present on all 4 of mine.

Thanks Jim

You can try a high heat paint. I've seen a few vendors who sell hub covers in chrome, black and maybe one or two colors that cover that center area on the rotor. Or a more expensive route would be to buy new rotors with a zinc or cadmium finish that resist rust.

IMO, it's normal and doesn't bother me.

You can take them off and have them zinc plated but painting with high temp paint is easier and looks good. I would try to keep the swept area free of paint/overspray.

I recently saw a red C5 with his rotors and calipers painted red, looked very cool.

That looks nice, I think I will go that way. I'll try to cut a paper plate to guard the contact areas from overspray/direct spray.

I got the search engine to work and this is discussed many many times.
I thought 08's and newer were supposed to be factory zinc plated? Obviously not the case with my 08.

Thanks for the quick replies

The paint is the way to go and for very cheap money and not a lot of labor.

If you would rather spend lots of money, then swap the OEM for these Baer EradiSpeed-PLUS-TWO rotors. That inner
area is now a black aluminum hat (looks purple in the sun sometimes.) No rust!

Any special prep you need to do when painting them?

No need to make a template... just paint away... the brake pad will take care of the excess paint in the firepath. Just wash them with dish soap, then wipe down with acetone or something similar. I always wear nitrile gloves when painting parts to prevent oils from getting on the part.

My 2009 came zinc coated. I do not know about the 2008. The only rust is get is on the firepath where the pads press on the rotor. This only happens when I wash the car. This rust comes off the first time I apply the brakes.

As long as you don't get an excess on the sweep area this is true...but an excess will gum up your brake pads, don't ask how I know this..........
