Has Anyone Replaced Just Their Speakers !!
Just wanted to know if anyone just replaced their speakers in their C6 and if so did it improve?? I took out the middle speaker up front and it made a liitle improvement.

I removed the center speaker and noticed "a liitte" difference, then I replaced the front and rear speakers and it was much better. But then I added two amps and two JB subs...Now I have a stereo! I kept the blose head/nav. unit.

Are you guys talking about taking out the bose speakers and replacing them? I guess I am the only one who absolutely loves my bose system and factory navigation. Sounds really crisp, loud, and enough base to shake the car and mirrors. I even bought 2 pheonix gold subs and a 1000 watt pheonix gold amp to install and now I am selling them because I am so impressed with the factory bose

I replaced my front speakers with 6.5 CDT's powered by a Kicker 350, and put an 8" sub in the left hand cubby. I disconnected the rears, as they were screwing up the soundstage I was after. My install is completely stealth and I did not lose an inch of room in the car, only the left hand cubby.
I was after a completely stealth installation and did not want some big box taking up space.
Bottom line, I pulled the 3.5 twiddlers and replaced them with tweeters, the 12" Blose Woofers were replaced with 6.5 Mids, and as I said earlier put an 8" sub in the left cubby, reinforced the cubby box, and filled it 1/2 full of home insulation(it's an old trick to make the sub think it is sitting in a bigger space that it is.) It took some playing around to achieve the right volume in the cubby, but it really works well. My 8" will almost match my 10" JL Dual coil I have in the C5... note - almost....
The speakers are all powered by a Kicker 350x4 with the rears being bridged to push the sub.
While some like the Blose, I personally felt it has been only slightly beyond pathetic and one of the worst sounding systems I have ever heard, the C5 being worse, which I replaced almost right way too.
The Blose Pancake Woofers are powered by a Blose amp and are unique to Blose. The 3.5 twiddlers are standard 4 ohm speakers.
I tried replacing the 3.5's, and it was a mild improvement, but not enough for my tastes. My new system simply "Blose" away the old Blose, I have a full range of sound, down to the tiniest triangle being tapped, great bass for an 8", a very clear soundstage, and ear bleeding volume if you want it. It is just ashame, that CD's aren't as good as Vinyl for sound reproduction, so in some aspects the soundstage is still not 100+% for me, but vastly improved.
For me, volume is not what it is about. I want the band laid out in front of me. I want to hear each instrument and where it is placed, the Blose was so muddy and mixed all over the place that was never achieved. I now have that, although I am not impressed with the stock HU, I don't want to muck up the interior with something different just yet.
If you go over the the Audio Section there literally hundreds of us that have pulled the Blose.

well I have always upgraded my systems and gone with aftermarket headunits/ nav units and speakers and this is the first car where I felt I didnt need to. Maybe they are aftermarket but I doubt it. Like I said it is so crisp and clear and the bass hits really hard and sounds good too and I normally hate factory systems

All of my speakers except the door base speakers were replaced with Infinities, it sounds good. If I go aftermarket I'll go with the Pioneer nav unit, JL amp, and Focal speakers.

As I just said in a previous post, I changed the door and center 3.5" Blose speakes with Bostons from Crutchfield.
Not a major sound improvement, but certainly an improvement well worth the $$ and effort.
I left the center channel connected - a subjective decision. During the install, I hooked up a temp switch to allow me to sit in the driver's seat and flip the center off/on. To my old ears, barely noticeable difference - but I preferred the center on.
I will try this setup for a while - Then I may tackle changing the 10" (12"??) excuse for woofers in the doors and add an appropriate amp.

Infinity's are...OK, and the BA's are good, but the Polks are excellent! I just replaced the 3 1/2 door speakers with the Polks and disconnected the center dash speaker. I sounds much better, but I'm considering hooking up the center speaker but replacing it with Polk and see what that sounds like.
