Theyre cutting costs. It makes sense they ended the program. Seems like you weren't very happy with the car in the first place to make a decision about all future GM purchases based on this incident of oversight on your behalf.

I phened GM today, guess what, the program ended Dec. 2008. Sorry there is nothing that anyone can do.

I phoned my dealer in Canal Winchester Ohio, they said sorry, I can see you one though.

Perhaps I now want to see them go into bankruptcy.

Not a happy camper here. I have driven GM all of my life. I do believe that there will be a change in my future. The current Vette is safe.

If you have not acted on getting your FREE NAV updates, get ready to spend $300.
Save yourself about $50 and buy a Garmin, you can glue it right on to the screen of the junk system that came in your car.

+1...just make sure you burn it to a Dual Layer for each disk as the file is huge. It took me about a day to DL it and it sits on my desk waiting for a vette to put them in!

I bought a new 07 C6 last year. I got a postcard that told me the offer for my first update was available but would expire 12/31/08. The funny part is that the post card was postmarked 1/2/2009 and did not arrive until 1/7/09!!!!!!!!
SOP for GM.
Stop making excuses for such a poor company!
I called and explained what happened. They said "Sorry about your bad luck! The offer had expired."
They told me it really would not have mattered if I called before December 31st because the update had been on backorder for months and they had no idea if and when it would be available!

I bought an '08 (new) in May 2008. Should there be any free updates? Is there a deadline?

PM me with your address and I will send you a 4.00 update. I have no gm nav in my 08 so it's yours if you want it. Been looking for someone that that can use it.

One reason not to get the factory NAV. Save the cash and get a good aftermarket unit.

I don't understand these updates to the Vette Nav. I do not have one in my C6. I have a 2007 Nissan Armada DD and my nav system is always perfect. They cut in a new huge development in my area which wasn't even there when I bought the Armada and when I had to find my son's friends house one day it took me right there. The same is true to NEW areas of NJ that I have to visit occationally. Never a problem. Am I missing something?

2008 models received no free updates. It was for purchasers of 2006 and 2007 m.y. Vettes.

As for the idea that the OP should simply go online and steal (yes, steal) the data to burn his own nav disc, well.....I don't advocate that. Theft is theft.

As for the cutoff, it was widely reported that the program was ending in 2008. Granted, GM sucked at informing the owners - I never once got a postcard from GM on my nav discs. But, if you had an order in before 12/31/08, they will honor it, regardless of how long it takes. It took about 3 months for me to receive my version 5.0 disc.

Default Disc better than nothing, but not much more!

Yea, the GM update is about 5 years behind as many have noted, old streets that are potholed and still have have not been listed on NAV disc. Disc is better than nothing, but not much. I have even had one-way streets going the WRONG way. 's

Thanks for the input, my fault, I did not read any of the threads dealing with the Nav update.

I was really upset that day and had to vent. Perhaps the Cadillac will be replaced with a Jaguar or a Lexus though.
