Default Out of Commission for a while

Good morning forum members....I just found out that my 07 vette has a "rare" oil pan gasket leak. The dealershp in Austin says it will take a few days to fix due to the extreme nature of having to drop the engine, etc, etc,....has anyone experienced an oil pan gasket leak? Is it a really big deal to fix? My extended warranty covers 100% and the dealership is giving me a vehicle to drive while mine is in the shop. I just hope that they do a good repair and my car runs just a good as new. Thanks for any feedback......

Have not had any such problems, so I have nothing to offer but my Best of Luck to you on the repairs.

Actually it is a "fairly" common problem. A friend of mine has it, and mine is showing signs of seepage also. Talking to my Corvette mechanic (not Dealer), he claims more leak than don't. Usually it is just seepage and not drips on the garage floor, so most people don't bother to fix it because of the involved repair process. Front suspension must be dropped, etc. Make sure you get an alignment also (Dealer should include this).

I would not mess with mine if it starts leaking, a few drips does not hurt. It shounds like a complex fix.

Here is some reading material for you. I am taking in my car on Monday morning 3/23 for this "rare" oil leak that seems to be previlent in a number of C6 LS2/LS3 Corvettes... For what it is worth, I have been reading for days about this, but want to get it fixed under warranty because I am afraid my dealer may not be around in 6 months to fix it if it gets worse.
Good luck on yours getting the right fix with no more leaking down the road.
Lyn

My 05 "seeps" a bit. No way would I let anybody drop that much stuff to fix it as it is now. IF it leaked considerably, maybe I would have to get it fixed.
