Best C6 Lasar/Radar Detector
I'm from Northern California and recently got a speeding ticket. With the new law that passed for officers able to have their lights off at night while monitor speeds is a problem. I was wonder which lasar/radar detector would work best. Ive looked at few options such as the STI Drive and Beltroncis passport 95 but both are pretty pennny
Any1 recommend something in the $300 that would be solid?

Never mind what others say about "starting another thread". No one is forced to read a thread, if they don't want to. Besides, doing searches throw up more old crap and there are often times new technology that you might be interested in.

Whichever one you choose, don't get lulled into the dreaded false sense of security - if you get hit with instant-on for instance, you're toast, or, if you're being paced by the unmarked Tahoe in your rearview mirror.

Most here will recommend the Valentine 1. I do not. I did a LOT of research on this back in late 2006, and the V1 was just coasting on its reputation, and had not been updated significantly. The research at that time clearly showed that the Bell 65 RX Pro was the best all around detector (particularly cleaning the competition's clock with over-the-hill detection). I have not seen any significant updates on the V1--firmware, which may help a good bit. Also, I suspect due to its price, I think a lot of the so-called review sites went to pains to construct tests that were friendly to the V1. Heck, I see some sites that purport its a a stealth detector showing it passing stealth tests on 2 types of tests, when there are several other types it failed at (the Bell STi and escort 9500ci are stealth on all the tests).
My point is, it's worth the research and perhaps the V1 has been updated so that it's back on top of the heap, but considering all the crazy marketing shenanagins at the time, I am highly supsect of any claims regarding the V1.
Anyway, the current top of the heap detectors are:
Bell RX 65 Pro (not sure, but the 65 GX should be up there too), Escort 9500ix, Escort 9500ci, Valentine 1. If you're looking for pure stealth, then the Bell STi is probably the best game in town. The are all good.
Do the research. I wish I saved the sites that were good. I believe RadarRoy had some good tests at the time.

Personally, given the full cost of getting a ticket, a price point was my last consideration

As you've already been advised, a Search of prior posts will produce a wealth of opinions (but few facts). Personally I like the unique combination of GPS locator and radar/laser detector offered by the Escort 9500ix. It actually learns to suppress false warnings that appear every time you pass a particular geographic location. You have the option of manually suppressing them too. It's also supposed to know about every fixed photo-radar/laser trap in the U.S. A 3-year subscription to Internet updates is part of the purchase price.
Just my $.02.
