Default HELP ???? do i need rear view mirror

hi guys,
i lose my car key on accident and the rear view mirror is broken.
and i went to 2 dealers and there did not manage to program the fob.
the car not communicating with the TECH II, and one key shop said you need rear view mirror to get the key programmed.

is it true? the car cannot be programmed without the rear view mirror.

I would not think the mirror would be the cause of not being able to program a fob. Did the shop give a reason? I would like to hear that.

Not true! I programmed a new remote for my car and not only do I not have a rearview mirror, I have no dash, speedo, radio, or console. I don't even have my drivetrain in the car right now! I didn't use the Tech II. I used the "30 minute manual method". Now, if the Tech II won't communicate with the car, that may have something to do with the CANbus system not communicating with the mirror. Try plugging in the broken mirror to see if it will communicate.

You must have a broken wire somewhere that won't let it communicate.

2 things I'm thinking is the wire from the key lock is not connected OR the mechanics Tech 2 has a problem. Is the mechanic using the CANdi module and is it functioning properly?

I have not seen any reasons yet why the Tech 2 with CANdi cannot program.

Have you ran the list of things to look for in your other thread about this. Some of those answers would be helpful in narrowing down the problem. If you have answered in the other thread sorry I missed it somehow.

To reinterate, until the tech 2 can communicate with the car you will not get very far. The tech 2 will tell you if there is a bad computer or modules and such.

Ask the mechanic if he has CANdi and if it is working properly. He may need a newer software version download. Just because he's a mechanic at the dealership does not mean he knows everything needed to work on these cars.

i have seen this when i was searching for a fob programming instructions.
this steps will need working fob (which is not available).

the problem that we have two dealers nearby and they refuse to receive exported car. and the dealer who accept the car he said your car had an accident and i will need to check it all (before he try to program it). and when i came back to him he said the car did not accept programming leave the car for full check. (to be fear i saw him disconnecting the TECH II wires from the car).

i will wait to get the rear view mirror and see what i will end up with. hope to get your opinion until i get my car working.

So how is this deal coming along? I seen in another post that the RCDLR, a modual that handles all the RF signals including the FOBS, resides up in the dash between the radio and the center speaker. It could have been damaged or just quit working. It's worth taking a look at as well.
