Looks like c6 to 2014
"GM's brands would be reduced from eight to four — Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC — as the automaker said in December.
The company is considering a sale of the Hummer brand and a decision could be made by the end of March. The Saturn brand could be phased out by the end of 2011. The company is also considering its options for the Pontiac and Saab brands.
GM said all of its major U.S. vehicle launches from 2009 to 2014 would be high-mileage cars and crossovers."
Note last paragraph of news quote...I think that may not include us!

I can't imagine that the c6 will be produced until 2014. Nobody wants to buy it now, let alone in 3 more years as the car continues to age.
If the C7 does in fact come out in 2014, do you think that they'll still have the same old nav system?

Speak for yourself. My C6 get 30mpg on the highway--which is 80% of my driving. I rented a Camry Hybrid (for winter driving) and it barely got me 34mpg. Despite the image the 'vette ain't that bad on gas.

I'm thinking that the C6, arguably the best Vette ever, may be allowed to limp along, if it remains on the build list at all, for many years, as did the C3's with only minor changes, many of which would be downratings (us old guys have been there before). It may be the only way that the model survives.

One pundit this evening said that Hummer might be shut down because no one wants to buy it.
Wonder if that's true? oh hek, I don't even care about Hummer division!
For those who said the car companies would be back for more money, I guess you were correct.

5 yrs in and people are talking of the C7, give it some time, let GM make some money off all the $ they spent developing the C6!
The vette will be around for a long time to come

Corvettes will be around for a few more years at least
As long as the Corvette stays alive for the near future I'm happy. I'll have mine before the year is done.

If the C6 sticks around until 2014 it will still be one of the best looking cars on the road. I personally thinks its the best looking car out right now. The C6 is also one of the best all around sports cars there has ever been. It's a GT, track star, and drag strip killer. It's affordable and reliable. And yet...the C6 hasn't even come close to it potential. If GM just makes a few key changes with the platform until then the C6 will be fine. If they just improved the suspension and tranny the C7 will be a breeze to build. They need to put more race technology in it. The engines are already similar to their race technology with the 7L 427.
In other words ladies and gentleman...
No worries.

It is not impossible that GM could still work on the C7 for an earlier launch. Heck, it's already a "high mileage" car in it's category.
Having said all that, I'm thinking 2014... But the Vette will live on!

The Nav is actually a good unit. It takes a little more to learn than the average Garmin. But, if you take time to read the manual you will be pleasantly surprised.
Try the 08 Mercedes Nav and you will fall in love with the Vettes Nav.

I doubt it will make it that long, Corvette has a big target on it's back now.
California is now free and clear to enforce insane emissions standards.
California is a big state for Vette sales.
It is a symbol not exactly smiled upon by the new powers that be that want gas five bucks a gallon gas, people living closer to work, taking public transportation or buying a hybrid.
We be screwed.
The people have spoken.

Well the OnStar Nav stinks. I found my way before the OnStar guy could even locate me. I have a Garmin Zumo 550 that I bought for my motorcycle and the window suction base fits perfectly on the windshield and actually a lot easier to reach than my other vehicles.
The Vette has survived numerous "Bad Periods". Gas crunch of the 70's. The 1970 Union strike. The 1984-85 electrical gremlins. And then Tipper Gore. ( I just had to throw that one in).
I think a 10 year run on the C6 isn't a bad thing. I know I like the looks. Of course I liked the C5. I also liked the later years of the C4. Well heck all of them. It's a Vette. Doesn't matter what year you have most people will just say you have a Vette.
Worst case scenario is it goes away and then we all have collector cars!!!!
