If you look at my previous posts, I received my Version 5 disks within four days of putting in my order. See prior post as follows:

"Really strange. If you go up a few posts to my earlier one on the 26th, I said they told me my freebee was on back order, but when it comes in they will send it. Today is the 30th, four days later, and it showed up at my front door. Go figure..."

I still have V1.0 so anybody that has anything newer and wants to get rid of it, please pm me. I will be happy to have it.

I'm on your list of people to respond. I just emailed them yesterday for the first time and will wait briefly to see if they communicate.

Got mine (v5). Haven't seen any difference. I'm sure there are some (they say 20%) updates and changes, but I think most people will get the new disk and not see many changes.

This is not a software upgrade that makes the nav system work better or differently, just new street and POI data updates. Same with my Garmin updates - good to have, but really see very little difference.

I think GM handled the update poorly, they should have sent info out to owners that the DVDs would be delayed, and told people reasonable time frame for delivery (not just "soon").

Bottom line as far as I am concerned - much to do about nothing.

I've just done the swap to factory Nav and love it but I'm in the same boat as some in here with the older discs though. If any of the people in here have gotten frustrated with the factory unit and want to sell their v5.0 disc I'd be interested in buying it.

No, because it would be a gross waste of time on my part. I wouldn't buy the car from you if I didn't like the conditions.

Also, I doubt very seriously if someone in GM is going out and surveying roads and then sitting down and burning updated DVDs. That could mean....wait for it....that THEY have to wait for somebody to provide them. Gee, what a novel concept that maybe they don't have them to provide.

Its your time, if you want to waste it chasing rainbows, have at it. I have better things to do.

So what if you liked the conditions but after I got your money I decided to not give you the product? That is what we are talking about. The company handling the updates have all the money they are going to get but they refuse to ship the discs in any reasonable way. They ship to some people but not others.

No, GM isn't doing it. GM hired another company to do it. That company did it and finished. That company then sent out postcards saying the new discs were ready. That company also said that if you didn't order by a certain date that is now past, you would loose your right to receive a disc. They have been shipping discs for many months to a few people. As customers we have done everything they have asked us to do to receive the product. We paid for the car. We ordered the update after it had been produced. Now they say they aren't in the process of shipping it to us and they have no idea when they will except they are shipping to a few people who have come in much later than the rest of us.

They said they had a disc available. We ordered the disc. We paid for the disc. We've been very patient for several months but now we want the disc. What's so hard to understand about that?

Reporting mail fraud (advertising a disc as being available and shipping it to some people but refusing to ship to others) to the AG is far from chasing rainbows. As you say, it makes lawyers happy and is a proven way to get attention for your grievance.

If you don't want to participate in a case action suit (you couldn't anyway because you didn't pay for the update as we did when we bought our cars) then you are free to exclude yourself.

While you are at it, you might as well ask for your GM iPod PAL. Many customers were essentially sold an obsolete navigation radio for a $2,800 surcharge in reliance upon the representation, which remains false, that GM would make an interface available to address certain aspects of that obsolescence. Look how many years ago that was.
