05' rear end max HP strength
Currently my 05' vette manual has been in the shop for a month and a half now getting a fully rebuilt motor just a honed blocked and stock internals still and mild cam, headers, and upgraded monster clutch.
I don't track the car nor do hard launches. Im figuring I am going to be making low to mid 400hp. My concern is now how well is the rear going to hold up the car currently has 35,000 miles. I do alot of forum research. I know that the autos dont have as much drive train shock for hard launches compared to manuals IE wheel hop I currently have the run craps on the car so the car isn't hooking that well.
Should I be concerned with the 05's weak shafts?
Thanks Jesse

I don't know that the '05s suffer from weak half shafts but rather the rear end itself. The casing is under engineered and fails with high torque loads ie: wheel hop, hard launches with good traction etc. I think you'll be fine with what you're doing, just don't beat it up too hard.

My half shaft snapped with a 2.73 rear end and 442rwhp/420rwtq. I also have an 05 A4. Get some C5 Z06 half shafts and I just put in a built diff with 3.42s.......a whole lotta more fun but not cheap!! Good Luck.

Yea this is kind of my concern, I was considering doing 4.10 while they had everything apart but I changed my mind. I guess when it breaks I will do the whole setup. Did you get the RPM rear end setup or Zip? what kind of engine mods do you have?

I acutally got the Diff off of a forum member so I am not quite sure where he got it from but I think it's an RPM. I have H/C/FAST. It's a pretty mild cam too.
