Default Any advice ona radar detector?

Hi all

I found sense I now am the proud owner of my first vette- a 2008 coupe. I seem to find myself driving a little faster- My question is - does anyone use a radar detector and if so what is the best ones out there?

Thanks
Mark

Can't go wrong with Escort. IMO. They are not the cheapest but I have had several, and they have paid for themselves. I am currently using the using the 8500 (Laser + Radar) which has no wires (2 AA batteries)

That's the route I went this time. It helps more to pay attention. Had an Escort 8500 on my 350Z.

I like the Escort 8500 x50. The V1 is very good, and it had arrows to indicate the direction of the "threat." However, the x50 has been shown to have a higher effective range. Also, the x50 has been shown to give fewer false alerts than the V1.

So the V1 may have arrows, and may cost more, but I feel the x50 is a better deal and a better detector.

The Escort 9500i has some wicked gizmos (GPS) but it's pretty damn expensive.

OK I also like the 8500 x50 escort and I
am looking to buy one.

I've noticed they have a red readout and a blue readout which is about $40 more.

Question for current owners. Any preference or advantages due to the color of the display?

Are we just looking at marketing?

I've not seen any price difference for other LED items based on color.

Please don't scream it's just a question.

Im like you, in the market for a rader detector. I have searched the forum for an answer and found out that it is pretty much a tie between the escort and the valentine one. I am almost certain that I will end up with the valentine. Good luck.

Default radar???

Pay attention to your driving.... not the radar sensor... drive safely according to the conditions.. not what your radar device tells you...

Most of the time, radar will not help in California anyway.... they use a stealth follow and bag approach on the freeways and interstates....

Can't go wrong with a V1. Arrows are great.

Love the V1, has kept me out of a few tickets, but worthless (like all such devices) against laser and aerial police timing you (I got nailed on I 44 a couple of weeks ago by a plane but only got a warning - did have a moderate Ka band briefly flash in front of me with no one around about 10 miles before I was pulled over)...
