I'm a "end of the 40's and a 50's-on kid". Gosh, am I old? Those brought back some great memories. Gotta go dry my eyes now.

Thanks for the memories. Got my license in 1956 just after my Dad bought a 55 Chevy Belair convertible, 265 power pak V8 (4 barrel carb and dual exhaust, 180 HP) with a powerglide. What was great, he always let me take it when I had a date. My 97 year old Mom still has the car. My first car was a 54 Mercury 2 door sedan, 256 V8 with 3 speed manual. It was pretty cool for a high school kid though not quite like my C6.---John

Brings back a lot of memories, no one writes songs about cars anymore but those songs should give those who didn't live it what that era was like. My first car in '65 was a 1948 Dodge coupe, bench seat (of course), slush-o-matic, flathead. Got it an Earl Sheib for $29.95, had the interior done, and, naturally, the engine mods never ended. Wish I had it now.

Man, that was fun! Thanks.
Definately my era. I was "bench racing" and riding along with the older guys in the neighborhood long before I got my licence in '66. I was ready, couldn't wait - learners permit on the very day I was old enough and same for the DL. Between the neighborhood and high school, we had all that kind of iron around. One guy had a '32 with a hemi and a continental kit - he called it "Mr. Machine" and had a painting of the toy by the same name (made by Matel - most of you guys remember) on the cover. No posi - laid a single black strip 1/2 the block and had everyone's dogs barking and mothers raising hell and waving tire smoke out of their faces.
I was poor, my first car was a '55 Buick I paid $50 for and fixed for weeks before I could drive it. Try finding performance parts for one of those! But find them I did, everything came from the junk yard.
Anyway, that was cool. Thanks for the memories!
