Default DIY Battery Relocation on a C6 *Pics Inside* (non Z06)

Here are a few pics and step by step of my Battery relocation kit.

Battery: Braille B2317R
http://braillebattery.com/index.php/batteries/b2317r/

Moroso battery cable kit
http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/74005/10002/-1

This is were the fun starts remove that old heavy *** battery

comparing both batteries

There are (4) 13mm bolts inside the battery tray loosen and remove

remove from inside your fuse box the 13mm nut ,remove the cable and follow it to your starter ,this is your original possitive cable. Do the same steps for your negative cable.

put the 1 gauge gound wire together which mounts to the frame and the engine block

a little heat wrap for protection

use the same mounting bolt and location for the new ground cable

mounting the other end of the ground cable to the block, it's a 15mm bolt

Now on to the power wire, remove the rear wheel liner

Fish the 1 gauge wire thru the rocker panel

connect the possitive power cable to the starter

Original Battery 34.2 lbs

Braille Battery 17 lbs

Odyssey bracket that had to be cut down an inch

marked holes with a sharpie

Original equipment
Battery = 34.2 lbs
Battery bracket = 1 lbs
Battery harness = 1 lbs
Total = 36.2 lbs

Battery Relocation Mod
Braille Battery = 17 lbs
Custom Battery Bracket = 0.8 lbs
14 feet of Cable = 5.2 lbs
terminal ends,bolts,nuts,etc = 0.7 lbs

I'm doing a full engine bay clean up by hiding/tucking wires away, so this was my first mod and more to come Oh! btw another reason is, I did a whole Z06 conversion widebody, brakes and why not relocate the battery in the rear just like the C6 Z06 ,I get bored easly and just start ripping things apart and move things around ,thanks for the comments

why not just fabricate a new battery bracket and mount the braille where the OEM battery used to be?
this way you dont have to dick around with all that extra wiring...

Assuming you have a stock audio system etc. what kind of lifespan can you expect to get from the smaller braille battery?

I guess alot of people on this forum never heard of something called weight transfer.

Great writeup and pics.

My car is in the shop now getting a Vortech installed. This is something Im going to do.

As far as the weight transfer issue is concerned...I think the corvette is already at 50/50 in stock form.

I believe the OP moved his battery to the rear was to clean up his engine compartment (with a little weight savings in the process) which isn't a bad idea....

My solution is to keep the battery up front and install a battery box around it.
