I don't use my Vette very much at all. 07 with just under 2,000 miles so far. Several reasons:

1. I work from home so I don't drive anything daily. My beater is 11 years old and only has 35,000 miles.

2. I use the beater car to run errands because I won't leave the Vette unattended in a parking lot. Seen too many "keyed" and "run into" threads in this forum. The idiocy I see in parking lots amazes me every time. I even keep the beater in the far back corner when I have to park it somewhere.

3. The gym, pool, and beach are all in bike riding distance. I'm into cycling whenever I get the chance.

4. When I have time for pleasure driving I have to split time between the Vette and my Firebird Formula. The Formula is now 8 years old with a little over 8,000 miles.

5. I'm ocd and I want my car to stay perfect.

6. I'm not one of those people who gets a new Vette every few years. This is my first and last corvette and I'd like to get a lot of years out of it.

So, I average about 600-800 miles a year on my Vette. That's about all it will ever see and it's good enough for me. I average about the same on the Formula and the beater sees about 3.000 miles a year. I only drive about 4,500 miles a year combined among all 3 cars.

Actually, a car that isn't driven enough does deteriorate rapidly. Seals dry out and start to leak, rubber dry rots, valvetrains rust and piston rings sieze due to lack of circulation of lubricants, fuel systems gum up, tires flatspot, differential clutches dry out and develop chatter, etc.

I drive mine all the time. I bought it as my daily driver. It's not a trophy for me, it's a car. A very nice car, but a car. To each his own though and everyone treats their stuff diffrently. That said, I do drive very few miles since I travel for work a lot and when in town I worlk from my in-home office. I only have 4200 miles on it in 10 months of use.

I picked up my 09 on 11/14/08 and have just over 1700 miles on it currently. If I could I'd have more on it, it's just to much fun to drive, and believe it or not last week in the torrencial rain it did not melt. It even comes with windshield wipers!! I will say however, the tires really suck in the heavy rain, my 96 was much better in the rain. As a matter of fact the 96 was better then the 98 in the snow, I'll see how the 09 is in the snow soon.

Honestly, it makes more sense to have a second car. There is no way in hell I would feel comfortable leaving my car at a movie theater, walmart, etc. That's what the beater is for and guess what, it's kind of nice to not give a fk. I can leave that piece of chit and not worry one bit if anything happens to it. It's also nice to have a beater in case of chitty weather. Don't get me wrong, I would like to drive the **** out of this thing but for me it just doesn't make sense.

I only have 9k on an 06. Mainly because I dont feel comfortable driving it anymore.
Its got a problem somewhere in the keyless start, lock and what all that controls.
Wont start sometimes or unlock when approach. Dealer cant figure it out. And
now with GM in the toilet, I doubt spending much time troubleshooting.

Nowhere to drive to. I work from home, and don't really enjoy driving aimlessly in the conjested Bay Area without a destination. If I need to go somewhere, I'll drive it though.

I do drive it to get my coffee a few miles away though. The Corvette is just a very expensive coffee maker right now for me.

I cant drive my vette everyday. It will get keyed or stolen.
Too many punks get jealous. Old ladys with rusted up Novas open
there car door on my Corvette. I cant drive it a lot.
Just to cruises or where I can keep an eye on it.

Pretty much sums it up for me also. PLENTY of other vehicles at home to drive as transportation.

I also love the way it looks when it is clean - and I don't like to get it dirty. I can pull up a chair and just look at it and really enjoy it. Really.
