Default Looks like I finally got screwed....

Well, I have been on the forum for many years and have bought and sold thousands of $$$ worth of mods from intakes, superchargers, headers , etc. and even sold my 408 cubic inch C5 vert on the forum.

I have read a number of posts of members getting taken advantage of on the for sale section and it finally happened to me....

I honestly never thought it would happen...LOL! I have sold parts and even shipped parts out before I recieved payment. Many times I have sold parts at great deals just to pass on a deal to someone else. I even took back a set of CCW wheels because the seller was not happy with them because they needed spacers.

So, what is the best way to deal with this? I have e-mailed, PM'ed the seller a number of times and have even seen them on the board after I sent them a PM and e-mail.

They obviously are trying to get away with selling me garbage (misrepresented the item for sale). Any input?

Thanks in advance!

If you've kept records of your emails, pms, etc., I suggest you take it up with the mods. They can't actually do anything, per se, but it would be good for them to be alerted. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Not very educated in law, but if it comes down to it, the mods have access to the IP adress the member signed up with... as long as the guy isnt blocking his IP, then you pretty much can figure everything from his mothers name to his shoe size from there.

nope. even a IP can be spoofed or if his IP is dynamic, it could be a new one every day.

if you used paypal, them file a claim

if you were smart enough to use paypal and a credit card, then just do a chargeback on the credit card...

I have been shipped bricks in a box after paying $800 thru paypal for an lsd.
I put in a cc chargeback and got back every penny...

I would recommend sending a PM to savewave instead of one the mods. He manages the forum business and would be in a better position to help you resolve your conflict.

Thanks for the posts guys and all the PM's of support! I appreciate post # 7...

I paid the private seller with a personal check. So I have the person's name and address. (I actually don't like using paypal because it just fuels my mod addiction)

I finally got an e-mail response from the seller and he stated that the tire was sent deflated to fit on a shelf??? Regardless, I took the tires to Discount Tire and the confirmed that they are worthless. They are down to the wear bars and there are chunks of rubber coming off.

I honestly don't think I could do a burnout with them.

I hope the seller man's up and takes care of this, I can take some pics this weekend and post them up if need be, but I'm sure he wouldn't want me to do that.

It's not too difficult to find out who I'm talking about.....

I'm actually more pissed off that the seller was on the board last night and didn't respond to any of my threads or my PM's.

Some pieces of the puzzle are missing (which is fine) but I wonder how did you make payment, where to and to whom? I would think there would be some sort of trail or some form of recourse depending on how payment was made. I'd pursue the matter with the moderators to see if they can offer any help. Perhaps you can enlighten other forum members in a way allowed by the moderators so no one else will fall victim.

I hate to let something like this go as a matter of principle but if you're not out too much money it might be less aggravating just to consider it a lesson learned.

PS I saw your update...if the seller misrepresented the items you've got a name and address. You've got enough to pursue the matter legally if they seller doesn't do the right thing. Good luck!

Thanks guys for the support....

I'll update later today IF the seller responds to my e-mail or PM during business hours.

I don't think this is a lesson to be learned at all, I give everyone the benefit of the doubt here, especially members who have been on the board since 2003.

If the seller thinks the DR's were half worn, it COULD be an honest mistake. Either way, I can't use the tires and want my money back.

I bought a CCW drag pack from a local buyer since I don't have time to wait for this to get sorted out before next Saturday.
