Do You Like Your C6 Seats?
#42
You won't have any ground to stand on if a shrewd investigator gets involved.
Furthermore, how do you know that the rest of your SRS will function in an accident?
You do realize that your driver's side belt pre-tensioner is now inoperable - right?

A Big Hello from Forest Hill, Maryland
They are fine. Obamasoma is a loser.

If it did, then you removed them and had to install a jumper wire.
Your seat belt pretensioner will no longer work and that factory airbag is now missing.
Your insurance company would have a field say with that.
E-mail Aaron Pfadt and ask him about this, since he sells a jumper harness and will give you a list of disclaimers about it.

Maybe Lingenfelter does some "magic wiring," but those who have looked at the diagrams (e.g. Aaron Pfadt) say that SRS operation "can't be guaranteed" and that the seat belt pretensioning feature is eliminated.
Furthermore, you car no longer has the side airbags that your insurance company thinks it has.

You could be.
A passenger could sue you if you got in an accident and he/she were injured because you "tampered" with the SRS.
Your insurance company could reject your claims because you "tampered with the SRS."
Ask an attorney who specializes in insurance law. I did.
Futhermore, YOU could be injured more severely because you "tampered" with the SRS.

Yes, I voted, yes. I like my seats. I pictured them in another thread with 13,679 miles in 13 months of ownership, so my history is clear.
From the other threads, however, I was just thinking tho that with the change in seat stuffing and supporting material, not just the removal and replacement of a cover with a factory cover, this might be something that a sharp insurance adjuster might notice in an accident.
And if so, it could be a disqual of any claim or benefit. Indeed, GM might also claim this was not a car seat built to their spec and therefore exceeded or adversely impacted the seat restraint/injury reduction system in the car.
I mean, it's been documented by at least one poster in 3 threads that the seats have been modified. Even GM can read these threads, I would think, since it is open, public record.

My wife and I are the only ones that ride in my car. So no issue there.

I PERSONALLY would not tamper with the SRS given the overly litigious nature of this society in general and insurance claims/companies in particular.
My mistake here was not realizing that 1LT cars came without side airbags. I'd have ordered a 1LT car had I known that when placing the order. Selling the car in the future might have been more difficult, but it would have been well worth it overall.
The coal-bin interior would have been a drag, but a nice set of high end aftermarket seats in red or blue would have dressed it up enough.

I like the C6 seats well enough but there's room for improvement. The seats are more than satisfactory for street driving but they lack support on a race track (even adjusting the side bolsters in with the 6-way power seats). I installed a 6-point harness on (and through) my stock seat for much needed lateral support. I'll probably go to a true racing seat in time.
One minor point is the seat doesn't seem to line-up perfectly with the steering wheel...sitting in the seat the steering wheel is just a bit 'off center.' It's more of a quirk than a problem.
